201765 I agree with you about not giving away books for free. However... I'm running a KCD soon where the first book in my series will be free for 4 days. I ache over having to do it, but at least some people might get to read it this way. I just hope it's the right people...

I doubt I'll do this very often or even ever again.

201765 Wow! I missed the awarding of these awards! Congratulations to you all. Well deserved.

201765 You'll wonder why I'm suggesting this but I hope you can see it might be worthwhile.

Free99books.com is one of the many, many sites that will advertise our books for us. There are two differences:

1. It is free to advertise (there aren't that many good sites that do)
2. It advertises only Indie and small press books - yay!

I'm not just suggesting you advertise through it, I'm suggesting you also share the web address with every reader you'll ever come across. You'll all be better at this than I am!

Oh Dale, how awful that people go around messing up other people's good ideas/lives. What goes around comes around - to them I hope.

201765 Currently I am paperbacking (!!) my ebooks which demands I read them through first...

Then I shall spend a little while on marketing - C.L. I'll be trying to crack the UK ads.

Then the chap who's banging in my head trying to get out with his story to tell will be attended to.

In between, I have someone else's book to read and, given half a chance, I want to read, read, read - and good ones will get reviews. I'm too embarrassed to list the ones I have in mind because I'm pretty sure I'll not manage to get to them. The plan is to sit in the garden near the end of the day and read. That's my dream rather than a plan!

And with family visiting from abroad for a month or so, and helping the other half of the family with their projects, plus winding down one of my part-time jobs, I think I'm being a bit optimistic.

Must crack on...!

201765 Good luck, Kimberly. That last sentence looks like an interesting way to make a few extra pence/cents.

Not for me, though, I'm plugging on with novels, as I take too long to write them!

201765 Love and hugs to you, Angel, if you get to take a fleeting glance at what we're getting up to.

201765 Carole's hit the nail on the head.

201765 Go for it Sam! I write in Word too and as Alex and D.J. say, that's all you need to get started. You can ask all the questions you like when you're getting near the end as to what to do next.

201765 HiT x 3 are on their way and should be there shortly.

201765 I think it's amazing that someone so far away buys your ebook and you get a little spike in your sales, and money!

Try not to spend more on your celebrating than you earned...

201765 You've broken into the Japanese market? Respect! Never mind the lack of dough!
Jun 06, 2018 01:14AM

201765 All the very best for good sales, Amanda. It's a hard market out there. Over here in the UK there are newspaper articles galore at the moment about the importance of reading poetry to children to give them the sense of rhythm and a love of words.

201765 V.A. You've done the right thing!

Crikey Carole. And wow! I thought I might send a couple... might have to send more.
201765 So attractive!
Jun 02, 2018 03:26AM

201765 The first one is very attractive - and you do want to attract. As a paperback it would be so good to hold that in your hands and turn it around and stare at it.

For eBook I'd go with the green because it stands out more.

201765 Cover 1 gets my vote with number 2 a close second.

Although I like the one without the house, I think a house in the pic gives it a personal focus. That house is being attacked, sort of thing.

201765 Ah... this is where you all are. Yes, I'm hoping to take part in this for the very first time!

Thank you Carole and team!

201765 How do Brits get their physical books over to you, Carole? Ordinary post or can the author order in the UK and the US prints it and sends to you.

Sorry, thicko me again. I've just today received the first author copy of my time travel romance. So this is all new to me.

What opportunities you put before us!

201765 Caution: This account is temporarily restricted
You’re seeing this warning because there has been some unusual activity from this account. Do you still want to view it?

I'd made a note in my diary for today to check out the site 'Indie Book Discovery'. So, good girl that I am, off I go. Site not available. So I thought I'd take a look at the Facebook account and the Twitter account - not that I can see much as I don't belong but on the Twitter account the above warning in bold is what I saw.

It all sounded such a good idea and pooft! Nothing.

I've put this post on the 'Useful' thread just in case their site is carrying some sort of virus. An IT person can probably say something different...?

201765 Probably most of you know much of what is in this post from bookhippo.uk but it might be handy as a check list.

I haven't read it all through yet - must get on with starting my next paperback as from tomorrow I shall not be able to do any real writing work for another 4 days. Grrr.....
