201765 Was it to click the 'unlink to previous...' button?

201765 Oh what a lot of good news! Really happy for everyone.

201765 In the interests of accuracy, I had another count up of sales of other books on my freebie days and the following days. It's 60.

I'm always a bit cautious...

But something good definitely happened - yay!

I hope I can pass some fairy dust on to you.
Jul 04, 2018 11:09AM

201765 Er... no sales at all today so far...
Jul 04, 2018 05:41AM

201765 Thanks, peeps. We'll keep trying, eh?

201765 Something good? I made some sales.

Departing from my belief that it is not right to give my much-loved book away as a freebie - it's worth more... etc., etc., I put it on a 3 day freebie. There's more info about this on another thread.

The good news is that I've sold something like 30 of my other books at the same time and the sales are still coming in. I haven't yet covered the cost of the advertising...

Still - I'm enjoying thinking it's good news!

201765 Happy Fourth of July to all Americans everywhere. Hope you make lots of sales too!

So sorry to hear that awful figure! I wish you what Carole wished you!

201765 Here's something, D.J., which I've kept from another thread. I can't say I'd recommend any of the sites in particular and I think the info is out of date but you could have a look at them and see if any might suit you.

No reviews? No problem :) Check out these promotional sites for your new releases or books that don't meet the review requirements of other sites. The * indicates a site that does not require reviews on new books as long as the author is established with reviewed books on Amazon (and a high overall star rating). Approval processes still apply to most.

201765 D.J. No I didn't get many sales from them last time - 3 only as far as I could make out. But they were $5.

I can't tell this time because I am using another site on the same day and it was $10 this time.

I suppose I am suggesting that sometimes I feel I need to start small and then build up when a little bit of money is coming in.

The Fussy Librarian is another site that is not too expensive for 0.99 offers. And I've heard from others that they've had a good response. Not sure about their policy on reviews. I'll have a scout around D.J.
201765 A rare occurrence - one of my books is free!
ONE DARK NIGHT
Book One of The Dark Moon Trilogy
FREE
until Tuesday 2nd July
One Dark Night (The Dark Moon Trilogy #1) by Anna Faversham

It is 1821 and smuggling is rife on the English coast. Lucy Yorton, dragged away from her privileged early life, must slave on a bleak, run-down farm. Those around her suspect she is a spy and treat her accordingly. Her problems increase when two men enter her life:-

Lieutenant Karl Thorsen, sworn to avenge the murder of his father, is a King's man. He is determined to stop the violent smugglers, hang them, and hang and gibbet one in particular.

Daniel Tynton has smuggling in his blood. Undaunted by Thorsen's threats, he is respected and feared.

Lucy must choose.

A lovely romance woven into swashbuckling action that will keep you enthralled for many a dark night.

AND...

Book Two, Under a Dark Star, is reduced to 0.99 for a few days too!

Under a Dark Star (The Dark Moon Trilogy #2) by Anna Faversham

In 1823, on an island off the south coast of England, there are activities worse than smuggling and all the conflict points to one cruel and ruthless man. The women on the island call him the Dark Star.

Lieutenant Karl Thorsen enlists the help of his old enemy, reformed smuggler Daniel Tynton who infiltrates the gang to defeat the evil that brings poverty to ‘the diamond isle’. Karl is captivated by a French woman ‘owned’ by the Dark Star. The Dark Star takes his revenge.

Sit back, and journey into a dark world.

201765 Sorry to hear that, D.J.

Try some of the smaller sites which need authors. I've just had a book with Book Pebble and my book was the only one sent out for today.

They are based in Amsterdam and I think they have a more UK based readership.

201765 Oh I'm often ambiguous too, Anita; it drives me mad.

I keep thinking that some of the more successful sites will be able to acquire more subscribers as smaller sites give up and that will be good for authors - although I expect they'll then charge us more.

201765 So am I, Alex! Thank you!.

The Fussy Librarian has also agreed to run the ad tomorrow. Bless 'em.

I think I ought to get some early nights!

201765 I've messed up! Overdoing it... ;o) Long story short - These are the sites who have said they will put my book on tomorrow's newsletter. I've been away (not holiday, sigh) and was too slow to sort out my KCD date for today.

I only let the sites know about an hour before they send out their newsletters, so this is good service, and it means my money hasn't gone down their drain.

Book Sends
Book Pebble
Free Books Hub
eBookLister

There are a couple of others who may let me change - I'll have to wait and see.

Worth knowing which sites bend over backwards to be helpful.
201765 Ditto.
Jun 29, 2018 11:06AM

201765 I haven't used that one. I had a feeling that some of the sites were sinking too low to operate. Which are the other ones that have closed, Anita?
Jun 28, 2018 01:20AM

201765 Another thing I hope they fix is that if a reader gets to the end (in KU) then pops back to take a look at the cover or the contents, it only shows up as having read one page because Amazon pay up to the last page read.

They may have already fixed that. Anyone know?
Jun 26, 2018 01:27AM

201765 I didn't realize that there has been a big problem with bookstuffing. I imagined it was the odd few - sigh, I must catch up. Very pleased to hear that removing them will make KU profitable again - I didn't realize it was having trouble.

Why do people cheat constantly? Don't answer that! I do know that!

201765 I keep hoping...!
