Groovy wrote: "I never thought of adding an excerpt. But that's a good idea."It's only useful for pre orders though, I think. People can just download a sample after the book is out of course
Erin wrote: "Did you have to have a facebook page to run the ad or just a profile?"Uh, I have no idea. But I ran the ad from my author page.
Amy wrote: "Excellent news. So what did you do to get it approved? I haven't tried yet, because I was under the impression I couldn't. Still might not be able to with the cover as an image."I prayed to the literary Gods. Lol.
I removed the racy blurb and just added the cover, a catchy phrase (A man will do anything for the woman he loves, except let her go) the price, the release date and a link to the webpage of the book. That way I can track the numbers of visitors that land on my page.
On my webpage, I added the blurb and two buttons: one that leads to Amazon and one that leads Goodreads. http://alexiswills.com/veni/
And it got approved! :D
Facebook approved my ad. FINALLY! And I'm actually seeing good results. No sales (boo!) but lots of likes and post engagement. It shows me that my cover is eye-catching. The blurb needs a bit of tweaking but I. Will. Get. There.

This thread is for random discussions. It can be for discussing books, TV shows, what marketing tactics you've trying out. It's completely up to you. Just a place to discuss things with other writers. :)
I will takeover the WHAT THE BOOK!? page on April 20 for 30 minutes starting 9pm EST.I will be giving away two books written by authors of this group (I'll buy and gift an Amazon copy) and a $ 20 Amazon gift-card. I'll also be talking about my book and stuff.
I'd love to see some of you there! :)
Oh, please join so I won't be talking to myself for half an hour LOL

Aislinn wrote: "I have good news in the non-writing department: I just got news that I got an apartment I really wanted! I move in early May and I'm really excited. It'll be so nice to live alone again."Freedom. Lol. Congrats! Have fun decorating.

Wow, this is great. However, if the story is a Children's book or YA and the girl and the hero are between the ages of 11-13 then I'd change the "young woman" to just "girl".

Hmm so it's less like a giveaway that chooses a winner and just you putting the book for free for a month?

Is Amazon lying to its customers to get them to buy books? It's starting to sound like it to mean.
Amy wrote: "And it's only now coming to light that we should delay further by sticking an advert in a paper asking for any creditors to come forward. They have two months to do so. The days will fly, you'll see.

Hi there X. I must say, I think your blurb could be a bit more exciting. It reads more like a synopsis now than an attention grabbing blurb! Sorry about the money, but look at it as an investment. You lose some, you win some. One of those seven buyers could turn out to be a veyr influent blogger or reviewer. You never know. :)
Amy wrote: "I have just read all the way through one reviewer's criteria for review requests who even lists the genres of erotica and space opera and talked myself out of submitting for a review today. Far too..."Take a chance. A 3 star review won't kill you. It might lead to exposure. Be brave.
Anna Faversham wrote: "May I ask for people to put the genres of their books as I think that will be helpful and we can contrast one genre with another on the same site."Good idea.
