I'm keeping the wip under wraps at the moment, though some details have leaked out on my blog:

Yes, I’m more determined than ever because this time I actually shared the complete book (or what I now realize is the first draft) with Carole. Having overcome that huge mental hurdle, I feel like I can do anything. Good luck with the new book. :)

Hi Alex! How is it going!? What is new?

I am three-quarters through my first draft of what will be my seventh published boo..."

7th book, Anna, wow you have not missed a beat! What is it about? I figured more people would be reading due to the pandemic but I guess the publishing houses are dominating again.

201765 Oh, it’s been so long. I took a break from writing and Goodreads to work on my career (and rant about politics) but since there is nothing else going on in the world at the moment (;) ) I decided to jump back into writing. And boy, everything has changed so quickly. Kindle books are priced at 15 $ on Amazon, blog tours are a thing of the past, and Amazon is being annoying. I don’t care though :D; I am excited about writing again.

How have you all been!? Tell me about your latest project!

201765 Nope I do not. As a result, I’m exhausted currently. I work, sleep and repeat. We’re currently in lockdown so there’s also not much to do.

Also want to add that you're right when you point out we have different genres. What works for one genre and author may not work for another.

A lit and film agent!? Cool, Carole! And whoa, I didn’t know your joke book sold that well either. I bet the publisher was very happy.

201765 Happy New Year everyone, wishing you all an easy 2021!

Loved the article. Your success has brought a light in my life too. This coronavirus pandemic has just been horrible. In addition to commercial agreements, I am also the go-to counsel for labour law matters, so I am the go to counsel regarding lay offs, dismissal and all the horrible shit most companies are currently dealing with.

I wrote a memorandum on how we kan "minimize labour costs as an effect of covid-19 outbreak" that my manager told me to "humanize" today. I almost told him, there's no way I can make this any way easier for us. I can use ten paragraphs to make it softer but the end conclusion is that people will be losing their jobs.

Wait, this is a good news thread, I'm sorry.
CAROLE, congratulations.

Carole. Omg. Do you think you will be able to add "NYT Bestselling Author" to your name or is Amazon still not sharing numbers with NYT?

I AM OVER THE MOON.

201765 Workwise: reviewing the Force majeure clause in a LOT of contracts.
Personal wise: really upping my vitamin intake and trying to eat healthy... worrying about the effect of this virus on the health of the world pupulation AND on the economy... wishing the US government would have taken the matter seriously in January and was not trying to bullshit its way out a crisis currently.
Feb 10, 2020 11:06AM

201765 Thank you both! I am so tired lol. But I keep thinking if Carole can do it; I better take my vitamines and get to work! :)

201765 I got a ton more responsibility at work! I have an interview with the general counsel of my firm in the US and if all goes well, I'll be doing projects on a global level.

Bad news: this is horrible horrible horrible HORRIBLE news for my writing dreams. So something good/bad happened.

201765 I usually write during the weekend, a few hours here and there while Netflixing and text messaging with my friends. It's not ideal, lol. You?

201765 Thank you Dale, Simi and Carmel!

My boss asked for a signed copy which makes me happy I decided to go the Young Adult route instead of erotic romance as I intended LOL
Jan 22, 2020 12:38PM

201765 Thank you Carole; I figured it's always better to be honest than to be sneaky and hide things. Whats done in the dark always come to light anyways.
Thank you Alex! It's been a while since I had time to read one of your books but I continue to be impressed by your output. Hope everything is going well. :)

201765 Today I asked and received permission from my linemanager + employer to publish my books! Had a pesky clause about "ancillary activities" included in my employment agreement.

But YES, we're good to go! Publishing world, here I come. Hear me roar etc etc. :)

201765 Thank you Alex, thank you Carole!

It clocks in at 64087 words.

If anyone else is feeling like you need a bit of motivation, this advice from Nora Roberts kicked my butt into high gear:

"Someone asked me once, in a Q&A what three pieces of advice I had for other writers. Here they are:

Stop making excuses and write.
Stop whining and write.
Stop fucking around and write."

There’s no secret, no formula, no magic spell.

It’s called writing, regularly, consistently, daily. It’s discipline and drive and desire. The three Ds I also tout when asked. Talent’s great, but without the three Ds, it’s hard to produce."

I am off to have a HUGE glass of wine. :)
And Carole, you know I wouldn't have been able to get here without you. You rock.
