193869 Have you guys read Sleeper? I just saw DC re-released the first 12 issues. It's one of the earliest Brubaker / Phillips collaborations. I need to go back and reread it again.

193869 What about Bingo Love? It just came out from Image in Feb.

193869 Anyone have a list of LGBTQ+ creators? I don't know much about most creators' personal lives in general. For me it would be much easier to suggest books that have LGBTQ+ characters.

193869 I mostly don't care what we read, but please don't subject me to Steve Orlando. I find his writing insufferable.

193869 This weekend's books:

Sundowners Vol. 1 - Unfortunately, it was terrible.
TMNT Universe Vol. 1 - A companion title for the ongoing TMNT title.
Tarzan: The Beckoning - A weird reprint of a Malibu comic from the early 90's.
Dark Horse / DC: Justice League Vol. 2 - I'm a sucker for inter-company crossovers.
Dungeons & Dragons: Frost Giant's Fury - Jim Zub wrote some fun comics that felt like a night of playing D&D.
Batman: Shadow of the Bat Vol. 1 - A 90's Batman title focusing on Bat's Rogues' Gallery.
Wolverine by Daniel Way Vol. 1 - I'd forgotten how good Wolverine was when he first got his memories back.

Letter 44 is back on NetGalley as a Read Now if you would like to check it out. I was surprised with how much I liked it.

193869 Caitlin wrote: " I'll be curious to compare Soule's run. I loved his Lando story but wasn't as big of a fan of Curse Words so I'm a bit mixed on him. "

Interesting. Curse Words and Letter 44 are the only 2 things he's written I've really liked.

193869 Caitlin wrote: "I just finished Heavy Liquid by Paul Pope (which I wasn't a big fan of) and will likely be be reading a bunch in the next month. I'm thinking I'll probably try Lumberjanes, Rose and Faith for sure, and maybe Tom King's Batman series and Charles Soule's Vader series. "

Paul Pope is hit and miss. I liked Battling Boy a lot more.
Tom King's Batman gets better with each storyline. I've got vol. 5 at home to read soon.
I've only read the first arc of Soule's Vader and found it a bit suspect compared to Kieron Gillen's run (which I loved). It's set before Episodes 3 and 4 while Gillen's was after Ep 4.

They've been in a lot of books together. They both started out in Fallen Angels, then the original X-Factor and X-Terminators, and finally New Mutants and then X-Force.

Have you read Revival? It's about a group of people who come back to life in a rural WI town but aren't zombies. It feels like Fargo if it was a horror movie. I'm rereading it now and loving it.

193869 Kait wrote: "Wow, that's impressive! I am 109 books into my year, but that includes prose as well"

Mine includes prose as well. Probably one prose novel for every 10-15 graphic novels.

193869 Today was my 400th graphic novel or book for the year. I guess I'm on a horror comics kick.

The Walking Dead, Vol. 29: Lines We Cross
Baltimore, Vol. 7: Empty Graves
Revival, Vol. 3: A Faraway Place

193869 I'll second The Sixth Gun. It's a fantastic series.

FYI, Nick. Oni Press is publishing The Damned. It's also by Bunn and Hurtt. It's pretty good too. It's set in the Prohibition Era with all the gangs being run by demons. The lead character is cursed so that anyone who touches him after he has died will die in his place and he comes back to life.

193869 Daniel wrote: "I agree it wasn’t as good as the first civil war
But Bendis gets the voices to so many of the characters so RIGHT"

I typically love Bendis, but he turned Captain Marvel into a straight up b----. It drove me nuts how far she was out of not only her own character, but pretty much humans in general. To be that inflexable and that sold on someone being able to tell the future 100% of the time was ridiculous. The whole premise of future profiling starting a war was just stupid, especially since there is no way it would ever be legal.
193869 Chris wrote: "I'm actuality relieved about that, I wouldn't want a cloud hanging over the graphic novel since I saw the movie first. If they're totally different then I can enjoy it regardless (if it's any good, that is). ."

It's really good. It's set 20 or 30 years in an alternate future where villains have taken over the U.S. Logan goes on a road trip with Hawkeye to deliver a package which allows you to see most of the future world. There's a lot more to it than that but I don't want to ruin it for you.
193869 Chris wrote: "Also, Logan was Jackman's greatest Wolverine performance, and now I seriously doubt the Old Man Logan graphic novel will live up to the standards of the film. "

Old Man Logan has nothing in common with Logan the movie. They are two completely separate entities.
193869 I gotta go with that classic lineup once Kitty Pryde joined the X-Men.

Storm
Colossus
Nightcrawler
Wolverine
Kitty Pryde
Cyclops
Professor X
193869 If Avengers 4 had filmed a little later, it would have been a cool way to introduce the Fantastic Four to the MCU.
