I love really atmospheric books so I really enjoyed reading this. That being said, I completely understand where you (and others) are coming from. The story definitely leaves you wanting more.

I am pretty happy with those numbers, especially with the new monthly catch-up category. If I keep up with all three categories every month I wouldn't be surprised if I was completely caught up by this time next year!

189072 I got this book from the library, so I don't have a copy with me to find the exact quote, but I don't think Bailey is supposed to be "important." When he catches up with the circus at the end, I believe it is Tsukiko who tells him that there is nothing special about him, he was just at the right place at the right time.

Like Sarah said, the white glove is why I think the book focuses on Bailey. It is like the glass slipper in Cinderella. Then Bailey leaves his old farm house (stepmothers house) to join his true love at this magnificent circus (the prince's castle). In his journey to get there he is given a reveur outfit much like how Cinderella's fairy godmother gives her a gown and slippers for the ball.
