Just tallied - should be updated now.
Goodreads only allows 50 comments per page so I tally up until the last comment on a page and start anew on the next. Kind of annoying, ugh.

no problem at all! a lot of people post multiple books at once.

Does it count if the book is your country local book?

Absolutely! Any book counts, whether for book club or outside.

And 42!!!!! I wish I was a writer and thought of something as clever as this.
I just think Adams is a great writer. His one-liners are hilarious but profound. Some of my favorites:
- “For instance, on the planet Earth, man had always assumed that he was more intelligent than dolphins because he had achieved so much—the wheel, New York, wars and so on—whilst all the dolphins had ever done was muck about in the water having a good time. But conversely, the dolphins had always believed that they were far more intelligent than man—for precisely the same reasons.”
- “The ships hung in the sky in much the same way that bricks don't.”
- “He felt that his whole life was some kind of dream and he sometimes wondered whose it was and whether they were enjoying it.”
- “You know," said Arthur, "it's at times like this, when I'm trapped in a Vogon airlock with a man from Betelgeuse, and about to die of asphyxiation in deep space that I really wish I'd listened to what my mother told me when I was young."
"Why, what did she tell you?"
"I don't know, I didn't listen.”
- “I'd far rather be happy than right any day.”
- “Trillian had come to suspect that the main reason [Zaphood] had had such a wild and successful life was that he never really understood the significance of anything he did.”

"Orwell warns that we will be overcome by an externally imposed oppression. But in Huxley's vision, no Big Brother is required to deprive people of their autonomy, maturity and history. As he saw it, people will come to love their oppression, to adore the technologies that undo their capacities to think.
"What Orwell feared were those who would ban books. What Huxley feared was that there would be no reason to ban a book, for there would be no one who wanted to read one. Orwell feared those who would deprive us of information. Huxley feared those who would give us so much that we would be reduced to passivity and egoism. Orwell feared that the truth would be concealed from us. Huxley feared the truth would be drowned in a sea of irrelevance."
I think Huxley is more relevant to today's world, no?

Am I right that when we leave comments about Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone it's best to post them at one of these two threads?
Comments with spoilers

I would post in one of those two threads. That way you can discuss with the broader group. Many people subscribe to group discussions and will get alerts when you comment on a thread that they have viewed or commented on themselves. You can also read about what others thought of the books!
