189072 October favorites:
Spoopy: The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches by Sangu Mandanna
Thriller: The Family Game by Catherine Steadman
Children's: The Witches by Roald Dahl
Graphic Novel: Harleen by Stjepan Šejić
Memoir: Greenlights by Matthew McConaughey

Witches by Roald Dahl surprised me. I'd never heard of it before, but it was a really fun read :)

Midnight according to what time zone?

189072 The genres could be a separate Bingo or mixed in with the other prompts. Could make it a longer Bingo list like a 4x4, 16 total.

189072 @Pony I like the genre idea. That would work well for BINGO.

@Laura I also enjoyed the spell out challenge. An easy theme for December could be Winter & Christmas. But November is a little more difficult. I was thinking maybe going with a Lord of the Rings theme since it's the theme for the teams. We could use the names of the characters for the spell out challenge. The hobbits, Gandalf, Aragorn, Legolas, Gimli, and Boromir are the core characters of the fellowship.

Aiming for spooky stuff this month. Mainly Edgar Allan Poe, also Legend of Sleepy Hollow.

189072 Glad everyone is talking about the easy-pointers. I’m going to focus on finishing mine up as well to get all 10.

Easiest way to boost our score a ton is for everyone on the team to read 10 short stories for those easy-pointers 😃

A lot of short stories you can find free online.

189072 @Laura - Evil Under the Sun is only 1 point (220 pages). You have it as 2 points on the Main Tracker.

189072 I second Mill on the Floss, A Passage to India, and Robinson Crusoe.
189072 I second My Sister the Serial Killer, News of the World, and Clap When You Land.

Always good to double-check. I had the same question last year because I had some classics which of course have a variety of published editions. Tori said we should refer to the most popular edition on GR for page count. Either way, I think it would be good to add this to the basic rules of the challenge just so everyone's clear on it.

I have been watching a ton of tv in September, purposefully overindulging so I'll be bored with it and motivated to stick to reading. It worked, I haven't had the urge to watch tv all week.

I'm going to finish up a tv series on Saturday and then be done with tv until it's time to watch Christmas movies. Completely obsessive reading will begin on Sunday LOL!

189072 The number of pages is based on the most popular edition of the book on GoodReads. When you look up the book on GR, whatever pages that edition says is what you use.

I try to make Oct - Dec my heaviest reading months for this challenge, so I have A LOT of books lined up.

Many short books and middle grade books, plus graphic novels for quick fun reads. Short stories as well for the easy pointers. Physical books and audiobooks.

Some of the Halloween/spooky-themed books I'm reading are:
The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches
The Haunting of Hill House
Long Live the Pumpkin Queen: Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas
Evil Under the Sun
I'll Be Gone in the Dark: One Woman's Obsessive Search for the Golden State Killer
Secluded Cabin Sleeps Six
Harleen
