189072 For Scary short stories I recommend Edgar Allan Poe & H.P. Lovecraft.

The Legend of Sleepy Hollow is a good one.

Not a short story, but I'm currently reading The Phantom of the Opera and it's worth checking out.

Good idea, but I would suggest recommending short stories (1-150 pg). If everyone works on completing short stories, the points will add up and give us a nice boost to end October.

If you like classics, Dracula by Bram Stoker is a great one.

I could give a lecture series on why I find books so fulfilling and how I am able to read so much. But the main things are:

1) I watch very little tv. During the work week I watch zero tv. On the weekend I will watch some movies and maybe a few tv shows. Though I still prefer to go out and do something rather than watch tv.

2) I listen to a lot of audio books. When I am cooking, eating, laundry... I'm listening to an audio book. Some of my hobbies are painting, cross-stitch, & jigsaw puzzles, I listen to audio books while I'm doing those. I have a water-proof speaker so I can listen to a book in the shower lol.

3) I prioritize and allocate time for reading. I fit it in whenever I can. I go to bed early because I know I want to get at least 1 hour of reading before falling asleep. It is absolutely an obsession.

I should conclude by saying that I did NOT grow up a bookworm. I used to read like 1 or 2 books a year. The epidemic hit, I got super bored and turned to reading. And that's how I realized that if I planned time for reading rather than trying to smoosh it in at the very end of the day when I'm exhausted, that I could make a lot of progress.

So ever since I've been challenging myself and setting goals to prove to myself that I can be a bookworm and a "well-read" person

189072 @Tori if we start a book in October but finish in November, does that count toward November’s points?
