Book one was extremely mediocre and slow. For the length of book, I was surprised at the lack of world-building. I kept thinking about Hunger Games when I read this. The second half of the book was definitely way better than the first. I wasn’t going to continue the series, but based on your recommendations I’ll get book 2 to read.
