50x66 Ahhhh! I haven't read much more. I'll do a binge read tonight or tomorrow night. You can go ahead and post your thoughts though (before you forget). I won't look :)

50x66 Yeah I guess if I think about it the shark attack was really convenient in terms of moving the plot along.

Then all of a sudden she finds herself on the shore of the brand new world all by herself.

The comment that she was wearing a shirt and no skirt vs her usual attire of no shirt and a skirt making her feel all turned around was very Alice in Wonderland. Everything topsy turvy :) I liked that.

Can't wait to meet this Eagle :)

50x66 No, I haven't met Eagle yet. I have to read more to keep up with you two :)

I'm glad you're enjoying it!

50x66 Ah! Another stupid male character to look forward to! lol

Now that I know we've all read it, what did you guys think of the battle at sea/shark attack?? That's was pretty insane. I didn't expect Maco to get gobbled up after she had grabbed hold of him. But well, he totally deserved it!

How are you liking it so far? I'm interested in seeing where the story is going to go.
Jul 19, 2016 09:17PM

50x66 Got to that last scene with Maco (still don't know if I'm getting his name right). Unbelievable!!!
Jul 19, 2016 09:23AM

50x66 My copy also starts chapters in the middle of pages! It's a little weird. I never saw this for the other two books I've read by her.

I'm not sure what chapter I am on. (view spoiler)

So far I like it! That guy Mako?? is just asking for trouble lol

50x66 Welcome Sharon!

I like fairytale retelling, YA and mythology too :)
Jul 17, 2016 09:38PM

50x66 No worries! I didn't pick up WoaTS until tonight :) Let me know once you both start!
Jul 13, 2016 07:33PM

50x66 Yaaaay!! I'm so excited! That's great news! :)
Jul 12, 2016 07:26PM

50x66 Not bad! Only thing is that today is the busiest day of the year for me. It's 10:30 PM and I'm still at my office. *sigh*

Sorry about your phone! Mine's battery ended about 6 hours ago and it sucks. I really need to get a phone charger for work.

Reading-wise, I finished that too fluffy YA novel and I'm ready for something meatier :) Looking forward to our buddy read!

50x66 Hiii!! How have you both been?

Kristy will you be getting the books this weekend? :)
Jul 08, 2016 09:04AM

50x66 That sounds nice! About the snow :) Curling up with blankets, hot chocolate and books?!! AHH! Yes please!! When we go somewhere with snow I'm looking forward to sledding (cause you know, zero skills in skiing and snowboard and I feel like I'm going to hurt myself).

I live in FL and it is hoot here almost all year. We get maybe a couple of weeks of cold weather.

Yes! I saw that you added the book! It's cute but a very lighthearted and fluffy read. The girl gets excited when she kisses the boy for the first time and the first thing she wants to do whenever anything exciting happens is text her friends to tell them. I like reading these types once in a while but there is only so much cuteness and niceness I can handle. I'm itching to read a book of more substance after I finish it (or at least some new adult lol)
Jul 07, 2016 06:57AM

50x66 Same here in the snow department! I've never seen it. I'm hoping to go somewhere where I can within the next year or two :)

Great! <--- about the books

Hope you guys have been enjoying your reading!
Jul 06, 2016 11:13AM

50x66 Oh that's great! I've never been but would love to visit Australia some day. :)
Jul 06, 2016 06:35AM

50x66 Thanks Erin! For some reason I thought we were all from the USA lol Where are your from if you don't mind me asking >,<

Ah! That's great news Kristy :) Yes, let us know.
Jul 04, 2016 01:37PM

50x66 Awesome! :)

Let us know when you are ready Kristy.

Happy 4th of July to you both!
Jul 02, 2016 01:23PM

50x66 Ah! Let's read All the Birds in the Sky then. I can read Woman of a Thousand Secrets on the side. Is this okay with you Erin?

Kristy do you think you can get the book by the 16th so we can start in the middle of the month?
Jul 01, 2016 07:52AM

50x66 Yes me too!! I've been enjoying the mini buddy group as well :)

As for reading two of my picks at once, I would feel bad! But we could leave the other one for my next turn (if the scenario came up that we all had access to both books).

Okay, good luck with the books! Let us know :)
Jul 01, 2016 06:58AM

50x66 Thanks for letting us know what happens in book #3 Erin :)

"A psychopomp is an animal that takes spirits into the afterlife."
Ah I see! So if people who have the rune, like Terrible, are psychopomps (I kept writing psychopumps lol) then that means they can transverse between the afterlife and the normal realm? Maybe it plays a bigger role later. How long is the series I wonder? Edit: Looked it up, I think up to Book 5 with a Book 6 tbd.

Between All the Birds in the Sky and Woman of a Thousand Secrets, I'm leaning towards Women of a Thousand Secrets. I love Barbara Wood (the author) and the summer of 2014 I read one of her books and I can vividly remember the experience. I love her stories. BUT I really don't mind reading the other one instead if it is easier for you to find Kristy. Let us know which of the two you have available in your library (if any). If you and Erin can't easily get the book I can suggest some others.

PS - I'm not sure if you guys get notifications from the other threads here in the group but we had a new member join and introduce herself in the "Introduce Yourself" thread. :)
Jun 30, 2016 09:51PM

50x66 So new book! I guess we are going to continue on the same thread right?

I have four potentials. I already have all four here at home because I got them from my public library:

All the Birds in the Sky by Charlie Jane Anders or The Golem and the Jinni (The Golem and the Jinni, #1) by Helene Wecker or Rebel of the Sands (Rebel of the Sands, #1) by Alwyn Hamilton or Woman of a Thousand Secrets by Barbara Wood

Tomorrow once I'm in front of my desktop computer I'll post some links.

Let me know which one you would like to read for the month of July :)
