186962 Haha I like that! Not sure how you got from crucifixes to peanuts, lol.

I had someone beta read the story and she loved it, which is always nice for my ego, but she didn't offer any criticisms. I need them to figure out where to go next.

Should I have Piper and Nebraska, my two main characters, spend a little time apart? They meet in chapter 5 and become partners right after that, so I think maybe I should have them separate for a while now (in chapter 14). What do you think?

186962 I'm a little blocked with my vampire novel. :/

186962 When I lived with my parents they went through all of my things. I had absolutely no privacy. They read my journal and even went through all of my computer files. If they found something they didn't like I was punished pretty severely. I'm hoping PinkLoki's situation is different but the point is, I understand respecting your parents' rules until you move out.

What do you mean, not allowed?

Yeah I have terrible dreams, so keeping a journal of them has never been tempting. Bad enough that I remember them all really well, too.

Has anyone else had the same dream over and over, for most of their life? I have this one where the Cheshire Cat chases me through my aunt's house and I hide from him under a pile of bodies. No clue why. I thought about turning it into a text adventure but I didn't know if that would infringe on copyrights, lol.

That's pretty cool. I've never had dreams about my characters.

186962 Lucid dreaming is fascinating but I've never actively gone to sleep and tried to do it. I know there are things you can do to get yourself into a lucid dream but it seems like a lot of work.

None of you guys have ever done anything like that, though? I think I might add it to a story or something in the future...

186962 Okay guys, I did something super weird last night and I want to know what you think. I might be going insane.

I don't remember all of the dream I had but I remember the end. It was me, talking to myself, telling me to bite myself on the arm for some crazy reason. And then I woke up and did it.

It's one of the weirdest things that's ever happened to me. Am I brainwashing myself?

186962 Do you still need someone?

186962 I'm already in chapter 5 of this new draft, and I have to say, I'm liking this way better.

186962 The LOTR and Hobbit soundtracks would probably be really beneficial to listen to while I write A Tide Rising. I've always loved those instrumentals, and there's always at least 1 lyrical song that haunts me forever. I used to sit in my room and listen to Pippin's song, Edge of Night, for hours and hours and hours.

I might actually start doing this! Jonas and PinkLoki have inspired me so thanks guys, lol.

186962 It's a great idea to link songs and scenes, especially if they're intense. I haven't tried that but I like it.

I listen to Twenty One Pilots nonstop when I write now, because it's inspiring and really speaks to me, but I used to have a good playlist.

When I worked on Piper's Folly, which is darker, I'd listen to Harley Poe, Deftones, Murder by Death, and Nirvana to get depressed and just generally bummed out.
186962 I've been working on Quest games for years, which is pretty similar to Twine. I messed around with Twine once but if I remember, you couldn't add much of your own code to that. I could be wrong.

Sorry that you felt pressured to put something into your folder right away, that wasn't my intention! Nothing wrong with an empty folder.

I like the humor in this game and the general attitude of the character. No real issues so far, I think I'd enjoy playing it.

Hi Frances, nice to have you in the group! I'll make your folder in a minute so you can start posting your "goofy escapism", which sounds intriguing and I can't wait to read.

This is a good group that's assembled; they're all very creative and nice.

Writing just for yourself is a totally different experience than trying to make something sellable. Until I started constructing my vampire novel, I'd never even considered being published. Now when I write, I usually keep the reader in mind and it definitely makes me hold back some of the stranger things I want to put into my stories.

Anyway, nice to meet you :)

186962 What do you mean, a working clock?
Apr 24, 2016 09:37AM

186962 Thanks :) It's taken hundreds of hours of my life to make all of this crap, so I'm glad someone appreciates it. Lol.
Apr 24, 2016 08:33AM

186962 I started making a calendar-clock GIF, and I'm kind of proud of this invention. It tells you the minute, hour, day, week, month, and year, and it's powered by magic. :) The 4 colors represent the 4 periods in a year as well as the 4 elements.

Apr 24, 2016 06:26AM

186962 Yeah, it's going to be a lot of work but also a lot of fun. I think I'll have 4 solid POVs and sprinkle in some random ones as needed. There really are a lot of characters, I can pull it off.

I'll keep a lot of what I've already written though; I don't want to lose 100 pages of work! I do this to myself a lot, lol. Changing something I'm making good progress on.

I haven't read Mistborn or Stormlight Archives, I'll have to check it out after I finish rereading the Throne of Glass series.

186962 Can I ask how you do your outlines? I'm always curious about that. I myself usually use acts like a play, with general plot twists and info, and then go through chapter by chapter. I might switch it up though with this rewrite.

186962 How far into the series are you? If you aren't far, we can help each other. :)
