Thanks for these brief summaries. But I still think we need a sole topic dedicated to the different branches of feminism.

I'll plough through OSS in the evening then!

In the 20th century, these were the most influential ones:
radical feminism
liberal feminism
black feminism
socialist feminism
and a form that is very much like intersectional feminism, but I forgot the word right now. I can come back and insert more knowledge here.
Maybe we should do a general topic on the different forms of feminism, what do the mods think of it?

Drop me a few lines here or PM whether you were successful or not.

Oh okay, so she's not like me, who reads everything...
Read it yourself and tell her based on your feelings, ideas and thoughts that she should read the book. When I want my mom to read a book I try to convince her saying I liked it, or found it to be very enlightening. Maybe you can try that. I know it's difficult, especially with someone who has strong tastes, and doesn't want to read something else than what they usually read.

Thank you so much for sharing this with us.
We tend to simplify people's experiences too fast, and think: Oh, this is the case for everyone. When it is not. That is also why I so appreciate that you shared part of your story and thoughts with us - to stop us from universalizing.
And I am glad that you have healed to a point where you can be unapologetically you. Because that is who you shoud be - unapologetically you.
I have yet to start reading it - but I really look forward to it, I think it might hit close home for me as well.

Thank you for sharing this very personal information with us. And don't apologize for the long post, sometimes to write something down helps a lot, and if it's longer, it's longer.

Oh, I cannot wait for saturday. I really wanna know how the new format works, as I sadly missed the chat last saturday.

J'espère que ce livre sortira en français un jour =)"
If there is enough demand - one can do nothing but hope.

Maybe you can give it to them as a parcel for their birthday? Or Christmas, if it's okay.

I know men who say they cannot be feminists because they lack the experiences specific to women. But the important thing is that they check their privilege and try to support women as best as they can.
In my opinion men can be feminists, human, everybody can be a feminist. Everybody can do something in their social circles to improve the situation of women. And if it is only small steps, as Ross said, small bites chip away at the patriarchy. And if the patriarchy is down, that's one oppressing factor less to fight against.
As you said, the civil rights movement wasn't just supported by African-Americans...
It needs to use a language of the people from the street, not some highly academic language only a few have learned.
I like what this man wrote, maybe it really is men who need to do the work, I mean, in order for change the ruling class needs to change, not the ruled class.

I also think it is not really necessary to unite all forms, different forms evolved and are needed in their places. That does not mean we cannot critizise branches of feminism, but in general I say we need a reality-check-up, but not a fusion of the branches. Different branches see different roots of oppression and different solutions.
I'm curious tho what others think of this: Should we/can we unite feminism into a trunk or not?

Thought I would share a couple of recent losses (one of them today, sigh) of female activists that devoted their lives to noble causes directly or indirectly related to feminism. ..."
Thanks for sharing, I'll read everything when I'm free, I'm busy right now.

More feminists, always a good thing.

Please tell me I misread that. Please...

Sometimes I just want to crawl in a hole and not come out again. Reading such things is one of these times.

They have one new hardcover and 26 new paperbacks right now. You see, Amazon didn't expect Emma to select the book. It'll be back in stock in a few days.
