177170 Are there any other Walking Dead fans out there? I am obsessed with the show and the comics.

LESS THAN A WEEK!!!
177170 When I got to this chapter I realized how long it has been since we read a Bran chapter. I had to stop and think OK where the heck are we with Bran.

This book has gotten so good. I am loving it. This is how I have seen it so far:

-first 1/4: very interesting and informative (world building, character intros, blah, blah, blah)

-second 1/4: well paced and pretty good

-third 1/4 till now: sooo much is happening!! I can't get enough of it.
177170 Back to Bran:

I really like that he is not sitting around feeling sorry for himself. He wants to be out and about in the basket and doesn't care what others think. Way to go Bran!

This quote comes to mind:
“The only difference between a rut and a grave is a few feet.”

Oh good question. He is someone from the story's son is he not? I just can't remember.

We don't really know a lot about him do we. Well Other than the fact that he is massive and a little slow. Oh and the fact that he has a big, long #$$%^&* that swings around. Sorry that was not necessary to post. I will delete if you want. Just say the word.

Well yes, they are both equally slimy in my opinion. Especially Littlefinger.

And what the heck is a eunych or whatever Varys is. I tried to read about it. He's casterated or something????

What a messed up world they all live in---and I love it! lol

Oh yes to have been a fly on that wall.
177170 OK, now that I have actually read the chapter in full:

I now have a little crush on Samwell. He won me over when he said to Jon "You're my brother now, so he's my father too." and offered to go to the weirwoods too.

Aw, how adorable!
177170 The final sentence of the chapter:

"It was not until later that night, as she was drifting off to sleep, that Sansa realized that she had forgotten to ask about her sister."

Of course she forgot to ask. Sansa is all about Sansa and nobody else! This sentence made me angry.

I feel like I'm a bit late joining this but I'll introduce myself anyway.

My name is Hazel, nice to meet you. :)
I've read and re-read this book series countless times and I could not ..."

Welcome Hazel. Plenty of people to talk about the books here. Have fun!
177170 Ooops, I thought I had finished this chapter last night and read your post Lisa. I then got confused, grabbed my book and see that I must have been falling asleep and put the book mark in mid-chapter. I know, who can fall asleep reading GOT, right?!

Anyway by reading your post (My own stupidity!) I spoiled myself and found out Ned is still alive (yes!) but being held as a traitor (no!).

Sometimes I really suck at life. lol
177170 Lisa wrote: "Nooooooo! I had been spoilered so knew he would go but didn't think it would be quite this soon :("

Yeah it caught me off guard too (well on the tv show anyways).

I have been told not to get too attached to anyone.

I agree!

Having just read this, I can't agree with you more!"

Thanks.

It is kind of fun to go back to these threads once you have gotten further along in the book. I read a lot this weekend and forgot I had posted this.

"Like" to your post!
177170 I am so interested in this book now and I was reading this part super fast.

This book just gets better every time you flip the page!!
177170 Oh Littlefinger you bad, bad man. I knew from the show this was coming at some point but not like this.

RIP Ned.
177170 Ria wrote: "So apparently "without" is just a fancy word to say "outside". It's most likely archaic, like "for the nonce" and "on the morrow"."

Oh well that makes sense. Thanks.
177170 The quote is on page 502 - the first sentence of the page. This is my version : A Song of Ice and Fire, 5-Book Boxed Set A Game of Thrones, A Clash of Kings, A Storm of Swords, A Feast for Crows, A Dance with Dragons (Song of Ice & Fire 1-5) by George R.R. Martin

I have no freakin' clue Ria! But now I need to know too. lol

And you are brilliant with your comment: "Also, when Ned changed the word "son" with "heir" in Robert's will and later promised to take care of his "children" (the king meaning Joffrey, Tommen and Myrcella and Eddard thinking of his bastards), I grinned and thought "Ned, you slick bastard!"

That one flew right over my head. Ned worded that very well I now see. Thanks for opening my closed eyes.
177170 Sorry but that death was just not all that sad for me.
177170 When Ned was writing the will for King B he did not tell him those 3 kids are not his. Should he have spoke up and been honest?

I think he did the right thing personally. Why ruin a dying man's last moments? I mean everyone will likely suffer because of it in the end. Joffrey is an awful person but Ned and Robert used to be close. I understand his decision.
177170 Ria wrote: "They keep saying "The king is without" or "Ned left him without." Without what? I don't understand this use of the word."

I have not noticed this and tried to skim to find it with no luck. Where should I be looking?
