Book Tag Game (47 new)
May 22, 2016 06:40AM

177170 Youtube book tag videos can be very fun to watch. I thought it may be fun to take that idea, alter it, and use in our group.

This is how it is done. There will be a list of book tags that fit a theme. Name a book that you have read that fits that category. Give any opinion or thoughts on that book careful to avoid spoilers.

Feel free to create book tags of your own and share them with other members.

Additional info added June 1/'16:
I hope to get one book tag up each month (around the 15th of each month) provided there is interest.

177170 I got a bit confused as to why Oberyn volunteered to be tyrion's champion so I looked it up. Here it is in case anyone else was confused:
"It all starts with the fact that Oberyn Martells sister, Elia, was married to Rhaegar Targeryn. During Robert Baratheon's rebellion, Tywin Lannister sacked Kings Landing. The Mountain (Gregor Clegane) is a sworn bannerman of Tywin Lannister and during the sacking of the city, he murdered the children of Elia and Rhaegar and raped Elia with the blood of her son still on his hands. Later he murdered Elia as well.

Tywin Lannister wrapped the bodies of the two children in Lannister Crimson and presented them to Robert Baratheon for which Robert took him as a bannerman and married his daughter Cercei.

Oberyn Martell had been looking for revenge all this while and he gets the chance when Tyrion Lannister demands a Trial by Combat because Cercei had already called upon The Mountain as her champion in case a Trial by Combat situation arises. This motivates Oberyn to step up as Tyrion's champion and fight for him in the Trial by Combat."

177170 What do you guys think?

I am reading book #3 in the series and I am at just past 75%. It feels as though the last third of these books seem to have shorter chapters compared to the first and second thirds of the book. Am I delusional or do you feel the same way? Am I just reading faster towards the end of the books because they are more exciting?

Thoughts?
177170 I have switched over to my Ereader for the last of this book. Thick books feel clumsy at the beginning and end.
177170 That was quite a depressing chapter. Poor kid.
177170 Oh. That was the last Davos chapter for the book. The letter was a decent cliffhanger.

Well they say that is you lose a sense (Ex. sight) your other senses (hearing, touch) will work harder and will make up for the loss. I would think in time his left hand would do the same. So I agree with you.
177170 Vivek wrote: "I agree! Such a gentleman. My favorite line in this chapter - 'His mouth jerked as if she slapped him. "Never?" ' Shows that vulnerable side of Tyrion. Could this be the start of a new romance? I w..."

I can't remember this too well. Why did he say "Never?"
177170 Jaime to Loras:

"Now sheathe your bloody sword or I'll take it from you and shove it up some place even Renly never found!"

OK now that was funny, I mean not quite Tyrion funny but it really caught me off guard and made me laugh.

Sorry, I got us way off topic here..."

I did indeed and loved it. But the one of hers that I loved the most was Attachments. That was just a real treasure for me.

And who cares about being off topic - it's what we do sometimes.
177170 You Before Me
Me after you
Me before you

All those names are confusing me. I think I labelled it wrong and will fix.
177170 Not me. I really doubt I will read it. When I feel the need for some chick lit I reach for Rainbow Rowell. Her books to me are cutesy chick lit. I have been hanging onto Carry On for a while now.

LOL.
177170 This is not normally my kind of movie but I intend to see it because "Dani" and "Tywin" are in it. Was I the only one who did not know that?

Me Before You

I bet those two actors likely don't know each other super well. They are not often on the same sets in GOT.

It seems I somehow missed welcoming you Vishakha. I am so sorry. I am glad you joined the group. Your method of listening to the audio at the same time as following along in the book is a great way to do it.

Better late than never so:

177170 OK now that my smarty pants comment is done:

Tyrion was thinking about the knife that Joffrey selected to have used on Bran back at Winterfell. Tyrion is still uncertain as to the "why". Did I miss something? Why is Tyrion so sure it was Joffrey behind it? Do I need to read further to find this out?
177170 So this wedding was uhm.....eventful. Is that a good word for it? I see weddings in Westeros don't often end well. Wow! What a chapter.

R.I.P. You Ass !!!
