I'm still reading
The Pillars of the Earth and started the book
Hard Choices for my prompt about a political memoir. Enjoying both so far but no where near finishing either.

I have finished Orange Is the New Black for my book with a colour in the title prompt this week. I'm someone who 99/100 times will prefer the book to any TV/Movie adaptation ..."I thought the book was just ok myself. TV show is much better I agree :)

I loved that book! Her second book [book:Furiously Happy: A Funny Book About Horrible Things not so much. But I laughed out loud so many times reading Let's Pretend this Never Happened.

I think I need to start planning mo..."Hi Katherine, I have the same problem, really need to focus in on the books I chose for the prompts rather than reading whatever suits my fancy.

I'm about 10% through my own epic novel
The Pillars of the Earth. Struggling to find time to read at the moment.

Congratulations Tara :)
I have spent the last couple weeks indulging in my guilty pleasure books, celebrity memoirs and Sophie Kinsella. I read
I Must Say: My Life as a Humble Comedy Legend,
I Don't Know What You Know Me From: Confessions of a Co-Star, and
Twenties Girl. I did complete a book for one of my prompts though,
The Pearl That Broke Its Shell which was for a book about a culture different that my own. I really enjoyed that book and would recommend it. I'm currently reading
The Pillars of the Earth and it's a long one. According to my Kobo it's over 1000 pages but I think it's only* 900 pages in regular book format. I have a feeling this is going to take me the next month to read. I'm enjoying it so far, about 100 pages in. It is historical fiction but the writing isn't.
Happy reading everyone!

Good to know Tara, I'll add that book to my TBR list as I really enjoyed Before I Go To Sleep. I went to a Wordfest event that had Andre as a speaker. His book has gotten rave reviews and won quite a few rewards. I have that book at home on my bookshelf so I'm glad that I know someone that has read it and enjoyed it.

I read White Teeth by Zadie Smith and I struggled to finish it. I don't get the hype about that book personally.
I have never read Margaret Atwood, would you recommend reading The Handmaid's Tale as an introduction to her?

I read
The Pearl That Broke Its Shell for this prompt and quite enjoyed it. It was a story about two women who for a period of their life become bacha posh, an ancient tradition in Afghanistan which has girls to dress up and act like boys.

I read and enjoyed
The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry The protagonist is a bookseller so somewhat in the same realm...
Good luck, let us know what you choose.
Charline wrote: "Yesterday I finished When God was a Rabbit it was a Goodreads recommendation and I have to say I loved it. 5 stars! I've read 15 out of 30 so far."I'm going to look that book up Charline. I have a list of books that members have recommended so far that I intend to read. It's great reading a book that you know has a strong recommendation even if you don't end up liking it personally.

I finished
You're Never Weird on the Internet and have Martin Short's memoir on audiotape that I'm listening to as well. I borrowed them both from the library so when they come up I usually stop what I'm reading and focus on them before they expire. The next book I'm reading for this particular challenge is
The Pearl That Broke Its Shell and that is for prompt a book about a different culture. For the year I have read 13/30 books so I feel like I'm making good progress.

Good morning everyone. I finished a couple of books last week,
What Burns Away and
The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry. I really enjoyed the latter. Right now I'm reading another easy book by Rainbow Powell
Attachments which I should finish in the next day or two. Happy reading everyone.

I finished
Freedom finally. I'm currently reading
What Burns Away and I can't recall why I downloaded it or what prompt I was going to use it for. So far it's an easy read and I expect I'll be finished within a couple of days.

I read
Still Life with Breadcrumbs for this prompt. I didn't find anything special about the book and found it kinda boring.

I read
The Lake House for this prompt which I throughly enjoyed.

I completed
Freedom this week. It took me close to a month to finish it. I think it's a great book club book pick as there is a ton of discussion points. I gave it about a 3/5 overall as I enjoy having a character I can root for (or at least like) and there wasn't one in this book. The book was very well written with great character development.

I read
Landline for this prompt which was the 2014 winner for Fiction. I personally wouldn't have given it top honors but I did enjoy the book for what it was, an easy read if not a very thought provoking one.
Tara wrote: "This week I read Troublemaker by Leah Remini for my book written by a celebrity. I really enjoyed it, thought it was funny and thought provoking with a few surprises. This puts me at 6 for my chall..."Is this the book about her experience with scientology?

Good morning everyone,
I'm still reading
Freedom for the prompt an Oprah Winfrey book club pick. I think this is my third week on it. I'm about 120 pages to go from finishing it so hopefully have it done by tomorrow. I'm going to pick something recommended by you guys in the forums for my next book to read.
Happy Reading!
