My library has only Christie and a couple of other GA books, so I always have to buy them or try to get them for free. This one is cheap here too though.

Just saw
Venus in Copper on Audible UK for 2.99 (till 2 January 2023):

Started this book today and find it enjoyable too.

I´m planning to read this, though not immediately. :)

Thanks Tania, sounds fantastic!
I liked the first two in the series, but the third not so much, so will have a look whether I like the forth, so will perhaps then buy the volume of three.

Rosina wrote: "A Late Phoenix is available on Audible.uk - as are a number of other of the Aird books (but not all)"I had a look yesterday, and at least in Austria there´s no result for this. Perhaps copyright issues.

Thanks for all the tips, Ladies! I´ll have a look. :)

I see
A Late Phoenix is coming up. Has anyone an idea how to get it for less than the €9,23 it´s here on Kindle? There isn´t even an audiobook available, and my libraries don´t have Aird books.

I thought Anthony Berkeley was good at combining all those clues, and I also liked his style, but the ending was a bit disappointing.

Agree with all the points, Judy. "Only" the last chapter left (70pp!), so hope to finish it tomorrow.

I also thought whether English native speakers (which I´m not) found a difference in the language of the chapters. I read the first six chapters so far, and like them.
I´d be interested in Whitechurch´s work too. I think I have the railway mysteries with BC.

Just got my book, so will participate! Thanks for the warning Judy! ;)

How about some snowy book?
Crossed Skis by
Carol Carnac.
Trying again, as it seems to me to be available both in the UK and US, also as audiobook, in the US on Kindle too.

That was rather boring, as the murder happened very late, there were nearly no clues or red herrings and the characterisation was also varying. Wonder how the short stories will turn out.

So long this was rather dragging, more like a story of the upper class and their life, but when I finally reached more than half of the story,
(view spoiler)[the first murder occurred and it turned into a court mystery. Also didn´t like that Hilary was pushed around by men. (hide spoiler)]. Will turn to the spoiler thread once I´ll be finished.

I´d be in for January/February, but also available during the other months.
