168927 I have read 8 chapters. So far, I am really liking it. I like the subtle sense of humour with which the narrator talks. He is very cognisant of the differences in his time and the era of which he talks about. He is aware of the silliness of some of the customs and of the women's dress etc. I like that he has a light touch while describing the events and the people involved. The mores of the time are all up for him to make light of but not in a way that makes the writer seem smug or superior. So far, I can't tell much about the characters.

But no spoliers (if any) till we all are done with that portion, sounds good?"

Of course. No spoliers until we are all there. Sounds great!

PS. We are all reading many things in parallel.
168927 So, we are planning on starting tonight. Are you up for it Jaya? Tentatively let's keep 15 days for the book, but we can speed up or slow down as we go. The book has are around 60 chapters, so it is about 4 chapters a day. We can discuss here.
168927 Nikita, Jaya and I are going to be doing a buddy read for this book. Join us here, if you would like to participate. We are planning to start soon!

Hi Jaya, I am setting up the thread now. We are tentatively planning to start in a day or two and not going to read too fast. Is that convenient for you? Feel free to join us.

Actually, you do have a point. It's difficult to set a an artificial stop point during the reading, because something interesting might be happening and you just want to go on and on. We'll just try to keep a similar pace as much as possible and if we go out of synch, then wait for the other person to catch up and discuss. What say you?

Am looking for a buddy to read The Danish Girl, by David Ebershoff, on which the Eddie Redmayne Oscar nominee of the same name is based. :)

Just begun the book, and I read pretty fast.

Hi Kavya, I'd recommend starting out with first making a comment on the 'Set up your buddy reads here' thread. After you have a buddy or two and have decided when you want to start, you can make a new thread and discuss to kingdom come.

Meditations by Marcus Aurelius for Meditations. I recommend it unequivocally.

Nice. I am planning on to read The Rosie Project soon. I've heard it's pretty funny.

Bookworm is a bookstore?

That generally doesn't happen to me. I usually have a feel of what type of book I want to read next.
