168065 Hello all!!
It's that time again - what do we want to read after Dracula? I am in the mood for something quirky, but I am in need of inspiration and suggestions. These are a few possibles in terms of numbers of copies, but feel free to make weird suggestions for me to investigate.

A few suggestions to get us started:

The Returned https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...

Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1...

The Human Factor
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3...

I look forward to more suggestions!

168065 Hello everyone, I have one paper copy of Dracula left at the moment if anyone would prefer this over kindle/digital editions.

168065 P.S. If anyone still has comments cards relating to the 'Behind Closed Doors' just drop them in to me and I will send them all off together

168065 We're sorry you couldn't make it - we had to eat all the Battenburg cake ourselves! One or two iced mince pies left though....

We had a good chat about 'Open Grave' though we didn't really have too much to say about it. We all gave it three stars here too. Neither overly good nor overly bad. A neutral read. I have one copy of Dracula left behind the desk if anyone would like a paper copy versus the free kindle versions, just let me know. Also, for our March book, throw some suggestions at me on the March discussion topic and I will source and choose something from there. We are looking for something quirky, possibly cheery, possibly fun - the opposite of Dracula and Open Grave

Look forward to reading the suggestions :)

168065 Let me have a wee look on catalogue to see how many copies we have - there are quite a few copies, different editions to be sure, but a few over different branches, and I know that I have a copy at home, so I am up for that. It has been many years since I read Dracula.

168065 We missed you - I had to eat most of the cake myself!

Mostly we liked the books, but one person said of Left Neglected that it was too long, a lot of repetition, not enough highs and lows, not too much happening and they were glad to get to the end.

So, another Marmite book :)

Looking forward to next meeting!

168065 The Wednesday group are hoping to go along to see the Film of the Play of 'Of Mice and Men' at Bo'ness Hippodrome on Thursday Nov. 19th at 7 p.m. We're all getting our own tickets and meeting up in the foyer. We can then discuss the book and play at the December meeting.

168065 Greetings, all.

We were having a chat at the November Book Group meeting about what sort of book we should like for January, and we are thinking of something crime-y. This book, Open Grave, was recommended to me, but we only have five copies on our catalogue, so we would have to double up, with some reading in early December, and others having the book over the Holidays. How do we feel about this title, or has anyone any other recommendations for me to source?

168065 Hello, all,

just a wee reminder that the chosen book for our December Discussion is Janet Soskice's Sisters of Sinai, and, for those of you who do not yet have a copy, there are still a few left behind the counter awaiting collection.

168065 Does anyone here like to read horror or supernatural? Any recommendations...?
168065 Good Reads has reminded me of the season by helpfully sharing their link to some Hallowe'en Goodies :)

168065 I read this over the weekend and I have to say that I am being haunted by quantum theory and quantum computing! It has turned up in nearly all of the last few books that I have read! Brilliant. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and thought it was very much in the style of the original three. How does anyone else feel?

168065 I love Vera! And oooh, the Aaranovitch's are fun. Can't wait for the next one!

168065 Greetings, all. I confess I got my wires a little crossed about the November Book Group choice, and it seems that the book 'Left Neglected' by Lisa Genova had been chosen, rather than my rather literal misinterpretation that the book choice itself had been left neglected... Some days I do worry about me. So, with that in mind, since only a couple of copies of Mrs Palfrey at the Claremont were issued at the October meeting, we can still switch back to Left Neglected, or since Mrs Palfrey is rather slim, we could read both.

Sorry for the mix-up, and I look forward to seeing you next book group meeting - place your order for cake preference here too!!

168065 Fantastic :) I am in the mood for something a little lighter than what we have been reading lately. Does anyone else have any thoughts?

168065 Book suggestions for November

Hi, all, how would we feel about reading Mrs Palfrey at the Claremont for the November meeting? It is short, and seems a little lighter than the other books of late. Alternate suggestions are welcome, too, of course :)

168065 Hi all,

does anyone have a copy of Norwegian By Night that had the two week restriction placed on it? I think all holds have been fulfilled so we can extend the loan period now.

168065 Has anyone yet to get a copy of Trespass for the BG meeting on Wednesday 2nd September? Or has anyone a copy that was due back on August 19th that needs to be renewed?

Please let us know
