I have put in for a few other book competitions, so the pressure of a decision may yet be taken out of our hands, but, should you have a burning desire to recommend anything in particular you may do so through the regular means - either here, in person, or give the Library a call.

It has been brought to my attention by very kind and observant people that Radio 4's Open Book this Sunday will be discussing our May Book waking Lions!

enjoy!

I am delighted to say that we have been lucky to win an author visit from Craig Robertson! We have also been given 20 copies of In Place of Death, so could anyone able to come along on Wednesday 6th April please let either myself or Anne know that you would like a copy of the book and we shall set one aside for you. I will keep you updated on details as they are confirmed.
I have created an event, but the times may change, so I shall keep that updated, but if people could RSVP from there to give me an idea of numbers, that would be fantastic.
Very best wishes,
Laura

Happy reading!

The code for our Group is 8PA2.
We also have been asked to think of some questions to pose to the author before March 27th but I have picked on a few unlucky members for that privilege ;)
Happy Reading ;)

I have had an e-mail reminder from the Reading Agency about sending back the completed Questionnaires. Thank you so much to those that have been able to return the completed Questionnaire. For those of you who haven't yet, could you possibly drop them in tomorrow? If dropping them off in person is not an option you could always e-mail me your answers and I can send them off digitally (which I have only just found out!).
Best wishes,
Laura

I am happy to confirm that the lovely folks at Larbert Library have sent over their copies of The Penguin Lessons for us to borrow and read for discussion in April.
Best wishes,
Laura

" Dracula
Sorry but I cannot come to the group on Thursday 4th so here are my comments to add to your discussion.
Dracula was a most entertaining and excellent read. I thoroughly enjoyed it - far more than I was expecting. I have not read it before and only had a hazy perception of the story. The prose is old fashioned but very easy to get into and enjoy for its own sake. The characters are well written and I especially enjoyed the Prof Van Helsing character with his quirky use of English. The suspense is well done and the unveiling of the various strands of narrative are exciting and at times very surprising given how well known this book is. I am so glad we chose it for I never would have picked it off the shelf of my own accord!
I give it 5 stars."

just wanted to send my apologies - I wont be able to attend Thursday's meeting, but Nicola will be chairing instead. I can't wait to hear what you all thought of Dracula!
I have organised all the books for March, but if anyone is still needing a copy if they are unable to attend Thursday's meeting, then please just let me know
:)

:)
I have won another set of books for the Book Group!!
The Quality of Silence by Rosamund Lupton
This will also include a feedback form which we ought to complete as a group and return to The Reading Agency by 26th February. By returning the feedback form in time we are entered into a competition to win the author joining us for afternoon tea! I know, I know - any excuse for cake :)
Let me know what you all think
