Good news!! The new Book Group books are in! Can you guess which ones I ordered, and which ones are Anne's choice?
Let me know what you think, as I would quite like to choose our next couple of months books in advance, just to be as organised as Anne for a day :)

Whilst perusing the New Books to buy for the Library, I came across a new one by Eowyn Ivey! It will take a few weeks to come on catalogue, but let me know who wants a copy, and I will put your name down. I wonder if it will be as dreamy as The Snow Child?
Happy Reading,
Laura

We are hoping to organize a little outing to Bloody Scotland this September, so here is a link to the website, and to the brochure. I think what we'll do is have a look through and then, much as we did with the Edinburgh Book Festival visit, pose some suggestions, check availability and make arrangements. We can discuss on here, or at the next Book Group meetings.

Feel free to post your comments here for July's discussion :) No spoilers, please.

Greetings, Thursday Book Groupers!
What shall we read for August?
At the back of my mind I had thought that we had suggested The Day of the Triffids for August, but I wasn't sure. Shall we go with this, or would you like to suggest some other titles for me, and I shall see what I can do?
Happy reading!

there are still three copies of Himself available for any Wednesday Book Group members who would like to take part in the focus group for Canongate. I would ask that people read them and return them as soon as they are able, rather than keeping them until July, just so we can pass around as many copies as we can.
Please just ask at the desk, or reply to this message to reserve a copy.
Happy Reading,
Laura

Hope you are feeling better?
I have set aside a copy of Himself for you, so it is waiting on the reservation shelf for when you next come in.

We none of us had much in the way of positive comments for this book, though we certainly had a lot to talk about! Only two of us there had managed to finish the book, and I think the unanimous decision was that we did not like this particular book, nor would we be inclined to read any more of this author's work. But, she is very highly acclaimed, so... maybe in the future we will revisit. But probably not.
I will set aside a copy of Himself for you, if you haven't got one already. There are still a few copies left.

As you probably all know, we have been selected to form part of a focus group for Canongate's upcoming publication of Himself, by Jess Kidd. The publishers are coming to Bo'ness Library to meet with the Thursday Book Group at 6:30p.m. to discuss what we all think of the book, and the cover art.
We have been gifted 12 uncorrected proof copies, so we will have a few spare copies, should anyone from the Wednesday group wish to come along. So, before the June meeting, if possible, or, at the June meeting of the Wednesday Group, please could people tell me the following:
1. Thursday Group - will you be able to attend the focus group meeting on Thursday 7th July? If not, I will give your book away :)
2. Wednesday Group - would you like to take part in the focus group, and are you available on the evening of Thursday 7th July? If so, we can see how many spare copies we have, or share it out between the lot of us, but that is something that we will need to know before we issue the books.
Happy reading,
Laura

I am thinking of May We Be Forgiven by A.M. Homes, for our next book
1) Because it ties in with the Baileys Women's Prize for Fiction display that we currently have in the Libraries, and
2) I have enough copies readily available :)
What do we think?

Just a wee reminder for the next meeting that since 1st April 2016, in accordance with the new Falkirk Community Trust pricing structure, attendance at Book Group meetings is now priced at £2 across all Libraries.
Looking forward to seeing you all next time:-
Wednesday 4th May 2p.m.
Thursday 5th May 6:30p.m.
Happy Reading!

There are seven copies of The Green Road on our catalogue, most of which are out on loan, but we do have some of her other titles -
The Gathering
and
The Forgotten Waltz which looks a little risque.
I think I put in a competition entry for How to Look for a Lost Dog so we can wait and see how successful I was with that.
And, yes, they all look fantastic, quite frankly.
As per usual, any other suggestions, please wing 'em my way via the usual means.
Happy reading

for those who were here at the Craig Robertson author visit, and are curious about the identity and works of his wife, I am pleased to say that her name is Alexandra Sokoloff, and we do have some of her title's available at the Library:
Huntress Moon
Blood Moon
Or they are currently available on Kindle for £1.99 if you want a wee taster.
Happy reading!
