THERE'S A WORD FOR PEOPLE LIKE SON YOUNGJUN: SHAMELESS. It's not every day that you meet a man completely willing to lay down his all of pride in the name of variety television, and people tend to have pretty strong feelings regarding how they feel about him. He's considered by fans to be a charismatic and engaging host with sharp wit and friendly demeanor, and by his anti-fans, the most annoying man to ever live. And it sucks to read the hate comments, but honestly? If Youngjun is South Korea's most obnoxious television personality, at least he's South Korea's employed most obnoxious television personality. He's famous enough that his name still appeared in the brand ranking index even while he was in the military, and much to the chagrin of his haters, he is a talented idol. Though somewhat polarizing, Son Youngjun can hardly be considered scandalous, because the only actually compromising controversy he's had in fifteen years happened because he got fucking his junior. All in all, he doesn't think he's doing too bad.

The thing is, Youngjun's got a thick skin. He enjoys attention — thrives in it, even — both good and bad. Whatever he is, he's not a bad guy, even if he makes jokes that are one step from crossing the line, even if he teases his younger brother that he's still the more famous Son, even if he's a disgusting old man pedophile who preys on his juniors and steals their youth (and by youth, he means the insurmountable one whole year between him and Jooyeon, because he's a real cradle robber). Youngjun knows who he is, and maybe it's a side effect of the narcissism, but that's enough for him. Perhaps he shouldn't approach work in such a laid back — or, as his critics would say, careless — attitude, but as far as Youngjun's concerned, he's earned the right, and the things people will say about him just give him all the more reason to keep on working and prove them wrong — without giving up any part of who Son Youngjun is.

[1] Upon his discharge, Hwang was asked his thoughts on boy group TIME BOMB's international popularity, as they recently became the first Korean artist to win an American award. The MC made a jab at how JSBD has never won any American awards, to which he replied, "Actually, we won our first four years ago. Our fans there appreciate that JSBD stays true to our Korean roots. We're not successful in spite of not forgetting who we are; we're successful because we don't forget who we are." This was taken as an insult to TIME BOMB (it was, but it's hard to argue against the #1 Korean boy group's member).
[2] During his time as a vocal coach on Produce 411, he made a trainee cry after the trainee had laughed at the audition stage of another trainee, to which Hwang had turned around to face him and replied, "Why are you laughing? Aren't you a trainee, too? If you're so good, then why has your company not debuted you yet? Can you do it better? Are you so confident that you want to come up here right now and give it a try?" Some said that he was correct; others said that he should be kinder with his words — but then again, it's been fifteen years, and Hwang Wooyoung has never cared too much about what people think of what he says.

EVERY WOMAN IN SOUTH KOREA HAS, at some point, been in love with JSBD's ice prince main vocalist Hwang Wooyoung. He's even been the token male celebrity fixation of lesbians all across Asia! Because, the thing is, it's hard not to get wrapped up in who he is — a chic city man, cool and stylish, but burning with passion and commitment to his group and performance. Well known for his intelligence (his individual talent isn't solving calculus problems verbally while dancing for nothing!), he's also popular for his ability in producing music for JSBD as well as other members of BDTOWN.

Wooyoung is known for his talent — something he's worked to hone into near-perfection to the best of his ability — and honestly, little else. He's not funny. He's not concerned with fanservice. He's honest and blunt, unafraid to speak about what he feels is right, and that doesn't always leave the greatest impression on everyone. But that's fine with him — he was never going to be loved by anyone, anyway, and as far as he's concerned, they can say whatever they want about his personality, but that doesn't change that he's in the most successful idol group ever.

Even so, Wooyoung doesn't speak without thinking. He's truthful but not tactless; and though he won't say it out loud for fear of losing his cool, manly image, he's always looking out for the people around him, whether it's his younger brother and sister or his company juniors. ONCE UPON A TIME, Woohee was a fresh-faced fourteen-year-old from a rice farm in Namwon with a million-watt smile and satoori that she couldn't quite shake no matter how hard she tried, come to Seoul to become a singer. Flash forward fifteen years, and she's Kassie's Sunshine Princess Yoon Woohee: model, actress, and philanthropist, who's performed sold-out concerts at the Olympic Gymnastics Arena and Tokyo Dome.

But really, she's still the same Woohee that she's always been: she's worked hard for her whole career and doesn't plan on stopping; she still dazzles people with her smile, still makes people coo and laugh with aegyo that's equal parts silly and cute. Sure, Woohee is a celebrity now, appearing frequently on television in CFs and variety shows; but she's also just a farm girl who still can't help but slip out of her Seoul accent when she gets excited.

Maybe it's for the best that Kassie disbanded — as hard as Woohee may have trained, as much as she may have improved since her debut, she was never going to have talent for singing. Not all the members' hearts were in it, and now, because of their time together, she can live comfortably off of CFs and television appearances and the odd acting role. And it would be a lie to say that she doesn't miss performing, but, she thinks, it was better to end things before they soured completely. Let Korea remember Kassie as they were when they shined the brightest, before they could dull. Or at least that's what Woohee tells herself when she misses the crowds calling their names, singing along to their songs. When people recognize her and say, that's Yoon Woohee from Happy Another instead of that's Sunshine Woohee from Kassie. When people ask her to live as though Kassie wasn't nine whole years of her life, the nine years when she was trying to figure out who she was. The past two years, she's made her living, but — she still doesn't quite know what she's doing without a group to lead her. And life keeps going, the world carries on around her, but Woohee feels a bit like she's a farm girl setting foot in Seoul for the first time again.

WHEN SHE DEBUTED, SATOMI MADE HEADLINES BACK HOME. After all, how could it not be news that Yamasaki Satomi — also known as younger sister of Yamasaki Hiroto, also known as YamaHiro of KARESHI, also known as Japan's most famous male idol group ever — was debuting in not just any old Korean idol group, but the sister group to Kassie, the most famous Korean girl group in Japan? That's when people started talking — that she was using her brother's name for fame, is she really all that? Will she be able to live up to what people want from her?

But then La Vie en Rose was a shocking success in Korea, and LAFESTA's Japanese debut Influencer topped the Oricon chart, and the talk changed to, that LAFESTA might just be something special, are Yamasaki Satomi and her group going to be able to revive the Hallyu wave in Japan?
