157418 I remember reading Magician Apprentice and Magician Master a long time ago. I'd always wanted to read more of the Riftwar Saga, but never got around to it.

157418 Welcome, Annabeth. It's been a very long time since I read the Assassin's Apprentice, but I enjoyed it quite a bit.
157418 I love reading challenges and tend to fail them miserably. That said, I surpassed my 2015 Goodreads challenge and set a higher goal to fail for 2016.

Grimdark challenge? How about this one? Read grimdark authors that spell grimdark?

Yeah, it's silly, but there it is.

I will be checking the second volume Sworn Sword (I think that's the title?) next.

157418 Thanks, Silvana. Bought and read today. Good story.

157418 Ha! Talk about spoilers!

157418 Christopher must have hit the nail on the head!

157418 Agreed. Bedeckt is an oddball because he's so ground in reality.
Jan 20, 2016 06:05AM

157418 I found Bedeckt's illness (I'm guessing pneumonia) an interesting twist. I cannot recall a book where a main character is has been sick. Mind you this leads to him later being healed of that by Morgen - along with some additional injuries.

157418 That's funny that you mentioned the 100. I tried watching that with my older son and became quickly disenchanted.

Michael's point on not liking pretty people with perfect hair rings true based on his character Stehlen.

For Grimdark Western lovers, I recently watched Tarantino's The Hateful Eight. I had been disappointed by his last movie Django, but this one was quite good and extremely grimdark.

157418 I'm loving the answers, MIchael. That's too bad about the sales, but as I said - I certainly have noticed your social media push and saw the book on some of those "Best of 2015" lists.

I'm a rpg gamer from way back, so that's very cool that you are working on a system for it.

157418 Michael, how long have you been writing? Do you have any established routine for writing? Are you an outline planner or free-flowing writer?

Also - I have been seeing your book EVERYWHERE in social media. You are on this board, the other board one of our members mentioned. I've seen you on a few Facebook groups. How important has social media been in getting your book noticed?

157418 Our group read for this month is Beyond Redemption. The author (and member of our little group) Michael Fletcher has kindly offered to do a Q&A.

Please post questions for Michael here. Thanks, Michael!

157418 Michael, that'd be really cool.

157418 The team is as dysfunctional as can be. Wichtig though is a character that knows what he wants and unapologetically goes after it.

157418 Thanks, Chris!

I'm going to share this site I found after finishing the book. http://michaelrfletcher.com/beyondwik...

It is a good resource for the book and defines a lot of the powers involved. I'd have greatly appreciated it while reading and maybe others will too. That said - it could spoil a couple things if you just browse it.

157418 Continuing my ignorant male thing - why the Sabetha hate, Silvana? I found her to be a very strong female character. She is Locke's equal in most ways. I did dislike how she treated Locke, but he kind of had it coming.

157418 Hi, ignorant male here. Why is Jean "all that"? Yeah, he's good with a pair of hatchets and you'd never find a more loyal friend (even when the friend is being a total ass). Is that it? Hatchet work and loyalty?

157418 I also really enjoyed Star Wars. I'll have to find Before the Awakening, but I've already picked up Alan Dean Foster's novelization of the film.

I'm also kind of struggling on my current read.
