Mark I totally agree. I'm looking forward to certain books, but I'm not going to rate them before I read them. That's crazy!
I took a look and see my average rating is 3.99 which rings true.
Brittany wrote: "I finished the series and I absolutely loved it." Awesome. We might need a thread for people that finished the series?

Yes, Mickey does the exact same thing. EVERY.STINKING.NIGHT!
We think she's part boxer t..."Our boxer is likely part Pit actually. Do you get the "Boxer Woo-woo" where she semi howls and talks to you?

I'm not for authors rating their own books, but if they do I know that I'm not going to take their review seriously.
I know a guy who has reviews I've followed for years. Often times he'll rate something low for a particular reason that is compelling to him, but I know from experience that I have a different view on that reason.
Other reviewers give hardly any 5 star reviews and some rate every book a five star. Those "hard reviewers" are fine, but the ones that think everything is best ever are worth nearly as much as an author giving himself 5 stars.

We have a boxer who will actually start barking for attention if she's not getting enough.

I'm so happy that others are enjoying the whole series as much as I did. #3 does wrap it up. No fancy bows for that wrap job.

The Heresy Within sounds good and there are three books.

I realize now that the site only has 5 books to recommend, which is too bad. I liked the body count/magic count descriptions.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone. I stumbled across this while having my morning coffee.
http://www.thecalltoadventure.com/ I took the "quiz" and it came up with
A Crown for Cold Silver which has been on my to read list for a bit.

I finished Jessica Jones earlier. Very solid show.

Josh - I've wondered the same thing. Or earplugs or anything of that sort.

I only have the last episode of Jessica Jones to watch. This show had to grow on me, but it did. At this point, I'm really enjoying it a lot.
I also like Arrow, but it is cartoonish when compared to the Netflix heroes. I also would not miss Laurel.

Thanks, Brittany!

Pisang - I just remembered "I, Jedi" by Michael Stackpole, which was a favorite. It follows Corran Horn, an Expanded Universe character created by Stackpole in his Rogue Squadron series.

Pisang, I was very hit and miss on the Star Wars books and frankly the Zahn books largely stand out as about the best. That said - I did read all of the New Jedi Order series and the Legacy of the Force series. These were hit and miss quality wise, but it kept my interest.
There is also a follow up pair of books by Zahn that relates to Thrawn. I've not read those.

I agree on Royce and Hadrian. Great partnership and great fun as a read.

The characters of the First Law are deeply flawed.
Ferro was seemingly one dimensional, but as was stated - she had been shaped into that by her experiences. Think about that though. Most people would have given up. Ferro instead turned to fighting, rage and hate. She is pathological in that hatred.
Her and Logen "hooking up" was in some ways a moment of weakness for her meeting up with Logen's soft side.
Ardee is (to me) one that I feel more contempt for. She is easily strung along and a puppet for others. She has some great qualities, but is merely a plaything for others.

Pisang, Admiral Thrawn is one of my favorite characters from the Star Wars expanded universe. Very cool.
Brittany - they will also compete with your time on the games. But it is also a happy thing to discuss those geek things with them.

Melina, I'm glad I'm not the only one who found it to be a downward spiral of whiny idiocy.
Chris - The writing is fine. I just haven't had a lot of urge to go back to it. Especially since I have been playing Fallout 4.

Having two teenage sons I get more than enough teen drama, so I'm not a big fan of YA books generally. I'm trying to get into the Abercrombie YA "Half a King" right now and I'll admit I'm finding it slow.
