And I gotta say, the bare ass definitely lets you know what you should be in store for. Once someone starts to read, the cover will make perfect sense."

Thank you Riley! This, (I hope) lets the reader know what they are in for if they dare to read Elfrotica! Elfbutt.

Favourite Cover Fact: The vicious slime monster that is being heart shot here actually turns out to be rather nice. The elf calls out the book cover for a misleading presentation of the monster.

154447 Okay, sure! Since I haven't been able to get my Goodreads profile to link up with my book yet I will Double Jump into this topic with a cover for critique!

This is the cover for my Elfrotica novel cover which is set in a suddenly sexy video game. I went through a few versions, the first was actually a painted fantasy cover that didn't feel right and I scrapped after 10 hours of painting.
The book doesn't take itself seriously in the slightest, and the painting just didn't feel right. Besides, I wanted it to pop more!

Warning: Contains Silhouette Elfbutt! Hide the children!

154447 Katharine, I think the combination of lurking on the forums and writing ghost stories is sort of amazing. :D

You are like our own forum ghost!

Don't be shy about adding in your thoughts on comments though, everyone here is very nice and helpful and we would appreciate your input!

You don't have to worry about it anymore Rachael! Now you know for sure. The Answer, is yes you do have fan art.

154447 This particular drawing style, like most other major art styles I can think of, originated with April O'Neil. More precisely on the phone ap Draw Something. My friend and I were playing and it is very hard to draw detail with a finger on a phone screen. 'Turtles' was the answer to one and simplistic April was used to show this fact. I replied with a drawing of the next word and April, (who had nothing to do with it, I think the word was muffins) was there. Many more Aprils followed.

One sad day The Hulk accidentally killed April, (They had been dating for a few days) and he was the main man for several months. Many people passed through over the months and when a new one was scheduled to show up my friend drew one of Anders, who is the main elf character in my book series. (He was mad at Link and Legolas)

That started a round of about 1000 draw somethings all using my book characters among all of my beta-readers.

When I made a website and needed to make art for it, the silly draw something with your finger on a smart phone style seemed right. Especially since some aspects of my book are NSFW, and a cute cartoon sketch of an elfbutt is less offensive than a photo (I think).

So when you look at your fan art, remember April O'Neil. This is all possible because of her.

Second, Alright then, I'm going to be tossing them onto the site. Your style kind of reminds me of a youtube channel I watch called Carbot animations. (C.B.....Carbot...is that you?)"

I am also impressed. I drew a dragon and an orc sitting down for tea... and that could actually be called 'close' to something that happens in your book. That book sounds awesome! :D

I can't wait to see the page they end up on! Just let me know when it is up so I can go snoop.

I will admit that CB does stand for something, but it is not Carbot. I had never seen those before, but they were actually pretty funny and I will watch more later. If I animated things, they would probably look a lot like that.

That is a good idea. I go to a writer's group and we read aloud, but I never thought to bring copies for people to mark up!

That is pretty sweet, and now you also have a story about that one time you got fan art!

Either Mishi or Taka, they both sound like badasses, from Blade's Edge by Virginia McClain.

I used both gradients and opacity changes for this one, which I have never done before on these, but it fit the style! Ground breaking!

True, but it can be all sexy without being NSFW!

Here we go! I read your book description with the half dragon and the orc battles and this was honestly the first thing that came to mind, and I knew that I must draw it. I am also pretty sure this happens at some point!

And by all means, make a blog post and do all the linking you would like! (But yes, warn about the naughtyness) I can send you all the images if you wish as well. :)

154447 Yes, I use a pen name. I didn't really want any of my relatives to find out that I was writing Elfrotica for fun.

Story time!

The original pen name I had decided on was amazing. I fell in love with it, and it was a secret reference hidden inside my novels themselves! Sneaky people would have been able to figure out a plot point if they noticed that pen name fit with something else in the story. How sneaky I was, how clever.

When I was building my website, I googled my pen name to see what happened when I googled my pen name, because it had been up on the internet for a full hour!

My pen name turned to be the same name as a professional football player who was very famous for beating his wife nearly to death. Oops!

I fell out of love with that pen name quickly after that, but a word of advice - always google your pen names! (Heck even your character names just to see what happens)

My new pen name isn't as sneaky, but the initials stand for something hilarious, so that is good enough for me!

154447 Here is a bonus fan art for the topic. From my archives. This is the first Fan Art I made in this style, for a friend whose book I beta-read. Her Author name is JP Marshman, and this is reminding me that I need to invite her to this group.

Aisling and Leir from Changling getting ready to fight some bandits, by JP Marshman. - Side Note: I actually read this book!

I can easily change colours, outfits, or hairstyles if needed to make it so that you can actually use the fan art and have it match your story.

Although, I will admit, the idea of you editing your story to match the fan art is also appealing!

154447 I have a stylus and use the blob brush in illustrator. I try to make them in 15 minutes or less without erasing. the wonky is part of the charm! A tablet would be nice, maybe one day!

All of the fan arts are business card sized, but because they were made in illustrator I can scale them to any size if you need them for a billboard.
Oh, and everyone feel free to use yours for anything you want, on your website, car wrap, printed with edible ink on rice paper and then put on cupcakes for your friends. Just credit me somehow. ;)

Your book series is a fantasy about a half-dragon fighting orcs?! Yeah, I already know what I am doing for that. I just got to work though, so I don't envy the time you will have to wait in glorious anticipation!

Ann: You are most welcome!

GG: I am. ;) ... I mean, thank you!

:) In all honesty, these are distracting me from waiting for the proof copy of my book in the mail. So I am glad others are enjoying it.
