154447 It still feels like a good idea to me. Even if no one reviews it, it still helps I think.

Even if you never leave the To Read shelf, you are still on a shelf and others might see it there. It is a vast improvement from not being on any shelves!

Besides... Maybe GG will win my book. She sounds like the best kind of winner there is!

That is actually a great idea. It certainly would be a lot of fun.

I know for a fact I can pound out an elf in just a few minutes!

Wait. That came out wrong!

Both have some phallic symbolism... a smartphone has become sort of the modern-day way of symbolizing one's status among a certain class of males, just as weapons used to be at some points in history, but daggers just have more pizzaz to them. And you know a guy is not going to whip out his dagger every five minutes to check it on a date"

I've been there. It was awful. Every five minutes he was checking his dagger. Sharpening it. Looking to see if it stabbed anyone... That was the worst trip to The Olive Garden ever.

There was also a dagger in the book promo video, and it is just happy to be in this picture! (Maybe too happy)

I am glad you like it TL!

154447 Here is Nathan from the Incubus Saga by Amanda Meuwissen as he... uh... as he... Sorry. What is going on? There is just so much to like with this one that I completely lost my train of thought. Oh right. Here he is with the Incubus and I think he...

Here we are. You have been done! (Oh my!)

I have decided that book video promos are excellent resources for this. Here is Amanda out clubbing on vacation while she is being eyed up by... that sexy guy there with the abs who is on the cover, from True's Love by TL Clark.

To be fair, they did keep you busy for that one afternoon while watching reruns of *M*A*S*H*.

In all seriousness though, I think you should try again. :)

154447 I did read some interesting things from a mathematician author, I will certainly use them for mine.

#1 most important thing: Do not listen to Goodreads.

The best times are the start and finish of the giveaways, as that is how people find you. So don't have a long giveaway. 10 days or so at the most.

You only need to give away a single copy to generate as much interest as 5, or 25 books. If you have more to give away than 1, do multiple giveaways right after another.

You get a better chance at a review if you include a hand written note inside the book congratulating them.

154447 I was wondering if anyone has tried the Giveaway feature and if they had any good results from it.

Honestly, the giveaways here were featured on a blog I saw about book marketing and it is why I joined Goodreads in the first place. (I'm glad I did btw)

The books that I wouldn't personally buy as a consumer of literature (That's the ticket!) get a decent number of requests.

I did research on it but the main thing I could find was that it isn't as 'random' as they say, and that people that review more books win more books. Honestly, that doesn't sound like a negative to me as an author.

I am sure I am going to try it, but has anyone else tried it already and can offer up some chew-able wisdom nuggets?

154447 GG: I seem to have a knack for either picking the right haircuts, or making orange Mohawks that should have been the right haircut! Glad you love it!

Christina + GG: I am slight impressed with myself that she does steal a car, while not over her head, it still fits!

TL: Oh my! Sexy bondage books. *Blush* This will be interesting! The Crimson Mistress may show up again!

CB: We agree on so many levels!
1. Scarves are amazing.
2. I love the colours.
3. I am a rare talent! :D

Amanda: A book about abs? A gay book about abs?! A Gay book with an Incubus in it and also abs?!?! Sweetdiculous! That fan art is going to happen so frickin' hard tonight!

Charles: I admit that I might be having a lot of fun in this thread.

Look what I made especially for you!

LX the alien, who shares a Hairstyle with my avatar icon, meets Mellie for the first time. From the Legacy Series by GG Atcheson. Spoiler Alert (From the book blurb) I am pretty sure Mellie is a vampire.

154447 For a fellow CB!

Cnan, as she walks through the fire to become part of her tribe. Also, she has a dramatic scarf, not sure if she had one before, but walking through fire demands drama, and nothing is as dramatic as a scarf. This is from Broken Sky by CB Matson.

154447 A.E. - That is wonderful! I am glad you liked it.

Dwayne - Extend that background, throw on some text, and just like that, you have a book cover! :D

Not going to lie GG, I already scoped out your books while doing the other fan arts. ;)

Can you send me a quick description of LX? Alien can be so many things and I would like to get it at least in the right general franchise. :D

For a fellow CB? Of course! Expect your first fan art when the bell tolls one! (Or you know, when I make it later tonight)

I will try my best to not include a wild spider monkey on caffeine wielding a deliciously sharp pencil, but no guarantees.
