Are you happy that we are going to be reading The Kiss of Deception?! Do you already have a copy?! I'm really excited! I've heard amazing things about this one!!

Is it just me or is this book moving SUPER quickly? We've only read 10 chapters but so much has happened to Mare. It's almost hard to keep up! I feel like the plot has progressed so much that there hasn't been much time for character development yet. Because of this, although I'm definitely interested in everything going on, I'm not super invested in these characters.. yet. It's still early. We just don't know Cal or his brother at all.. or anyone. We kind of know Mare though... I don't know. Hopefully we'll learn more about them soon!
I'm excited about her powers! I kept thinking of Zu (from the Darkest Minds trilogy) hehe
I agreed with all of you ^^ that was comparing this to the Selection. I'm not really happy about that, but hopefully as the book continues they will differ more!
I also thought of Throne of Glass when they were talking about the glass palace and seeing through it and everything.. I guess it's a little different though. This one has diamonds and stuff. Excited to read on!

So happy that all of you seem to be enjoying this!! I'm FINALLY reading it!
So my thoughts - I definitely think it's really interesting do far. The first 5 chapters flew by for me, and I'm so happy I picked this up because this is totally the type of book I'm in the mood for! I'm really liking the set up so far and I'm so interested to learn more about the Silvers! Definitely interested to learn more about Cal and who he really is.. Also to find out more about Mare and her powers! Who else was freaking out when the silvers started turning in the reds?! They are definitely cold hearted people.. Poor poor Gisa.. Now Mare is going to have to figure out how to provide for her family! Super interested to learn more about her brothers involvement with the Scarlet Guard! Also about the war.. Its so sad that Mare's friend is going to have to leave... These people have terrible luck. I feel like a lot has already happened in these first few chapters! I haven't had as much trouble with the world building as some of you said, but I can understand where you all are coming from.. It's a little weird to hear about the Reds walking everywhere, living in the heat (so I assumed no AC), working so hard, and sometimes being in the dark, then to mention TVs and jets.. I was reading that and I was like, Oh! Okay, so they do have stuff like that... Just the reds don't have that stuff. I kept picturing the silvers as the Lunars (from The Lunar Chronicles) they are all so beautiful, yet cold and cruel, and almost not even human with magical abilities. No one else probably thought that.. I'm just weird. Haha excited to continue on!

Ahh I just finished!!! What did everyone think? I really really enjoyed this book. I wasn't a teen in the 80s, I was born in the 90s. But I still grew up watching so many of the the shows and movies mentioned as well as all of the music! I haven't played a lot of the games mentioned, but I had at least heard of them. I loved all of the little details in this book! Who else thinks this would make a cool movie?! I heard there may be a second book too so I'll be pretty excited to read that!! I definitely wanted more... I'm curious what's going to happen to them all! My full review will be posted soon! Thanks again to everyone that read along with me!! I loved reading all your comments! Oh snap. Wade is crazy. But super smart of course. I can't wait to see how this ends! I'll see you guys in the last discussion board!

I'm thinking they are about to team up to win!! I mean, nobody needs that much money anyways. And I don't think it's cheating, like the sixers. They would all contribute their own expertise and knowledge and would win together. I was getting so scared there for a bit when the Sixers had knocked down the original five down the scoreboard.
I was a little confused for a bit when Daito died, because just like Wade I thought just his Avatar died. I just kept waiting for him to coming back, just level one... I can't believe that killed him. I mean, I CAN. You know, they tried to kill Wade and stuff... but wow. I hate the sixers and can't wait for Wade and his friends to BRING THEM DOWN. I know that Halliday wouldn't have wanted them to win either.... About to start Level 3!! Hoping to finish this tonight!

Ah! I like Art3tmis but I really just want Wade to win.. I hope he figures out the riddle quickly, gets the rid, then beats her to the gate!
I understand where she was coming from about the whole relationship thing.. I mean they've never even met in person. The hunt is also their main priority and its true they were getting in each other's way. I just don't see why they didn't work together then split the money. They both could still can more than enough for what they were planning to use it for.. Excited to continue and to see Wade hopefully get the next key!
