We can't really take credit for the original challenge, it came from some website called PopSugar. We've had a good time with it, and decided to carry on next year with a challenge that was truly crowdsourced by this group.
Enjoy!

A big thank you to everyone that took part in the discussions and voting for our next challenge. My hope is that you'll all find it to be an even better experience in 2016!
During the month of December I'll start creating the discussion folders and will change the name of the group to reflect the new year. And I'll find a new icon for the group.
In the meantime, keep reading - 2015 isn't over yet!
I'm really looking forward to the final list too !!With that I do believe I'll wrap things up! Thirty-eight votes here will do nicely.
Stay tuned for the full list reveal soon!
THANK YOU EVERYONE!!!

Annerlee wrote: "ARE we voting ON or OFF the list??i.e. do I put my least favourites or my favourites????"
Vote for your four favorites! I won't close voting until I hear from you. :-) You could be a tie-breaker!

Good plan!
Oh dear - I definitely meant for everyone to vote for their favorites, and I'm sure everyone did that. The voting is bringing some pretty clear winners for this round. I'm just about to tally up the most recent batch!
Me! I'm so busy for the next two months that I'm not going to sweat it. If I get a few more categories I'll be happy.
We need a vote off to round out the last four categories! We are getting close to a great list. I'm really looking forward to revealing next year's challenge soon! Please select your top FOUR from the following:
A book about death
A poetry book
A book set in Victorian England
book with a month name in the title
The "wrong" book (a book with the same/similar title as another)
Author from your own state (or country, if you are not from US)
Steampunk
Book about a trip (road trip, cruise, world)
Science Fiction
Fantasy
A book with the name of a person in the title
There hasn't been any activity here for a few days, so I'm going to go ahead and close the thread. We have some clear winners.
Thanks everyone for continuing to vote while I was out of town for a few days - we're up to 79 people! I'm excited that so many of you have taken the time to give input. Some of you have pointed out that several categories are similar. I tried to avoid it when I put together the list, but missed a couple. I will take the raw numbers, then account for similarities so we end up with the most variety possible.
It's been really interesting tallying the votes - I have a system of organization to make sure I don't go nuts! Putting my librarian organizational skills to work.
I'll leave voting open through the weekend, then call this thread closed.
Everyone agrees that some of this year's categories were pretty difficult. However, there were some pretty good categories too. This vote will be a little different. If you want all new categories, leave a comment saying so.
If you'd like to repeat categories, tell us your top three from this year.
Go!

Ashley wrote: "This was slow to start, but I stuck with it because my friend said it was really good. I did, and I was rewarded with an intriguing story with quite a surprising twist."Recommended by a friend? Let me know if you want a different category.
Cheers!
Another batch tallied! Thanks for your votes everyone. At the rate we're going we'll have a very nice challenge list that isn't too painful but will allow us to stretch our reading tentacles.
