Cheers!
This is definitely a case of the book being based on the show. I haven't seen Twin Peaks in a while, so reading this is causing a lot of "oh yeah!" moments as I remember things. I may have to watch the series again. :-)
Welcome everyone and Happy New Year! I really like the tone this group is taking - I hope you all enjoy your time here.
Mikan wrote: "Okay so I admit I cheated a bit since I started reading before 2015 even starts."No worries Mikan! I'm sure a lot of people started reading before the 1st. In my mind, it's when you finish the book that counts. Welcome to the group!
Yes folks, this is how I'm starting 2015. I hate television, but love Twin Peaks. I don't read horror as a rule, but my favorite horror author, Daniel Kraus, wrote a great article about this book and why it should be a YA classic.http://booklistonline.com/Children-Ar...
I've had this book in hand for quite a while, but haven't read it - until now. It's the perfect fit for me for the books based on television shows!
p.s. Daniel Kraus is a good go-to for the category about scary books.
It will be easier to find books for some of these categories than others. If you want suggestions for any of the categories, start a discussion in the appropriate folder with the subject line "Help!"With the number of librarians and book lovers in this group, I'm sure there will be many suggestions for you!
Cathrin wrote: ""A book with antonyms in the title" - can someone maybe explain what that means?"Cathrin wrote: "And another question: can one book be counted für several categories?"
Antonyms are words that are the opposite of one another. Here's a page with a lot of examples:

I think if people want to count a book for more than one category that's fine. Everybody has different schedules and ability to fit in time for reading, so combining is okay. Some of us will probably try to read a different book for each category, but in this group there are no hard and fast rules. I want everyone to have a good time!
Dawn wrote: "Where are these folders?"Very good question! When you want to add a book, follow these steps:
1. Click on "new" at the right end of the Discussion Board bar.
2. Click on "folder" to see the drop down menu of folder choices.
Once people start populating them with their books, they'll start to show up on the board.
Wow. I went away for a couple of days, and the group has grown and we have members from all over.Welcome! I'm looking forward to starting my first book of the challenge soon, and seeing what all of you will be reading!
taide wrote: "Hello! I'm Taide from Barcelona. Nice to meet you all.I'm approaching this challenge in a different way. I will choose the books I'll be reading without thinking about the categories, and then see..."
That's a clever way to do it!
The folders for each challenge are finished! Some are abbreviated a bit, as they only allow 32 characters in the name of the folder. Click on "photos" to see the full list.
I'm taking notes too! It's not like I can order everything from the library now, haha Michael is full of suggestions, so I'm taking notes for future reference.
Good question. Shortly, there will be a category for each of the challenges - if you join us later the threads will already be here, yay!As you read books from the various categories, add a new topic under that category for your title. Start a new post and select the appropriate folder.
Discuss as you see fit.
There are no rigid rules for how this group should work. If you read only one book from the challenge that's fine. You're still welcome to play along and chime in when you feel like it.
Greetings, and welcome to the group. Please take a minute to introduce yourself, and share a bit about what appeals to you about this challenge.I'm Anne, a librarian in the great Pacific Northwest. I'm excited about this challenge because it will push me to read a lot of books outside of the genres I've been spending a lot of time with the last few years (predominantly YA). Looking forward to a year of good books!
