Anyway I've been shovelling this week and discovered how my arms were not ready for winter! One book left on the challenge, Daisy Jones & The Six isn't calling to me yet even though I am ready to be done the challenge.
@Lynn I've read a bit more in the Ceruelean Sea and is your cat Tigger like Caliope?
Finished Reading:
Loveless ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (2022 ace character)
Thanks for the recommends for this prompt. I enjoyed this book even though Georgia's headspace is a little rough.
The Once and Future King ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Rat Queens 7 with a new author but I didn't notice. The humour was good especially the evil unicorns. However, I have discovered that my library does not own the last volume of this series. Why?
I'm Glad My Mom Died ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I've never read a book that goes into an eating disorder this heavily. I enjoyed Jennette's writing even though this was a tough memoire to read.
Storm of the Century : the Regina Tornado of 1912 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Interesting history that I thought I should finish for non-fiction November.
Something is Killing the Children, Vol. 5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐
This series keeps getting better.
Your Guide to Not Getting Murdered in a Quaint English Village ⭐⭐⭐
Have you watched a BBC detective/murder mystery show before? Then this book is for you. This was a short graphic novel/comic.
Ash Princess ⭐⭐⭐⭐
A middling ya fantasy book but it entertained me so it's a four. I needed a comfort read.

QOTW:
I don't read a lot of non-fiction but I had a few started that I pushed myself to finish because it's November. I've read 5 non-fictions so far.

Did you break your nose? My aunt tripped over her cat and broke her arm a couple of years ago they day before she needed to pack her car to head home for the winter. We had to go and help load the car and get the house closed for the winter. Naturally the cat was fine.
@Ellie thanks for posting the link I am currently stuck at 9/20. I haven’t checked twitter for extra hints yet. I’m stubborn.
@Nadine I was so sad that it wasn’t gone with the wind. Still haven’t figured that one out. Never saw every heart is a doorway but I did complete that clue.

Sabriel by Garth Nix the first book in a ya fantasy concerning necromancy. This is still my favourite book since reading it at 13.
and also Cinder series.
Has your daughter read any Holly Black?
The Cruel Prince fantasy series was great all about faeries.
The Darkest Part of the Forest is a good standalone fantasy set in the same world as The Cruel Prince series.
The Coldest Girl in Coldtown a standalone vampire book.
The Wrath and the Dawn by Renée Ahdieh fantasy duology was good. A retelling of the story of Shahrzad.
Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli was so cute like the Heartstopper series.
There's the Red Queen series that is more sci-fi/dystopian than fantasy.
Kelley Armstrong has multiple ya fantasy series.
The Summoning is her biggest. This is urban fantasy and includes all sorts of supernaturals.
In Every Generation by Kendare Blake a return to Buffy/Sunnydale following Willow's daughter.
Shadowland by Meg Cabot. Teenager who sees ghosts and falls in love with the one who haunts her new house. Recently reread this series as an adult and it still was good.
Legendborn by Tracy Deonn. A great way to update the Arthurian legends. This is a heavier read dealing with grief and collonialism.
I'll stop there because I've read a lot of ya.

So I’m thirteen chapters into The Book of Life by Deborah Harkness and — I come across a “Buffy” reference! 🤣
Diana (MC) is catching up a friend sh..."
Thanks for this gem.

Title: Badger to the Bone
Author: Shelly Laurenston
Recommend? Probably not. This series was entertaining for its constant ridiculous family shenanigans and pacing. I took the prompt literal when using this book too.

Finished Reading:
A Confederacy of Dumptys: Portraits of American Scoundrels in Verse ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
This was the best one yet, because oddly enough it was hopeful.
A Cosmic Kind of Love ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Cute rom-com.
Lore Olympus: Volume Three ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Next one please.
Ruthless Fae ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
So far this series is very addictive but now I have to wait for the next one.
Soul Taken ⭐⭐⭐⭐
This was pretty good although in the grand scheme of the series it was kinda boring. It definitely fit for a spooktober read.
Numb to This: Memoir of a Mass Shooting ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Interesting way to share their experience during and after a college shooting in Oregon. Obviously a heavy read.
Sailor Moon Eternal Edition 8 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Major cheer up book.
Finding Winnie: The True Story of the World's Most Famous Bear ⭐⭐⭐⭐
My library bought this in time for Nov. 11 I think and it's been on the tbr for awhile.

Loveless this was a heavier read than I was expecting
QOTW:
Ookay so very confused how some of you have 10 on the tbr. I have over 15 books from the library now. Anyway good for you who are decisive and can keep the tbr in check.
So I can't tell you the number I add from goodreads articles, this check-in thread, challenge ideas and my feed. My want to read and maybe shelves are both just under 400 books each and I'm trying to get them to go down but it's not really working out for me. I also just end up with random picks from the library and things my sister suggests to me too. I'm sure I've added at least 100 this year.

I take it you read them first. At least now with the 2 year wait I have time to read the second Dune book before that potentially gets turned into graphic novel. This second book was even better than the first book because the new ink and adhesive didn't make me ill while reading.

Sadly as much as I wanted to get through this book it was one I had to DNF because of the intensity."
Yeah I get that. I've read a couple of other lighter books to cheer myself up. I'm only a quarter way in but short quick chapters are helpful in this to take breaks. It's too bad it didn't work out for you but it's important to not push yourself to read a book that will mess with your head.

I was able to get my flu shot this week and I've been a little tired but that's okay. Fingers crossed that my parents get both of their shots at their appointment this week.
@Ashley Marie TSwift's album was awesome for reading non audiobooks. :)
Finished Reading:
The 5th Wave ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
This was a decent movie that I finally got around to reading the book. It was really enjoyable, even though I didn't know that this is a trilogy and I'm kinda hooked now. Ya alien invasion dystopian.
Devouring Darkness ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
A fave author's new book. Urban fantasy set in Chicago.
Frank Herbert's DUNE: Muad’Dib, Book 2 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Discovered that they've stretched this book into a third graphic novel to be published in 2024. Oh well, the artwork is gorgeous and the graphic novel pushes the pace of this awesome sci-fi classic.
Fruits Basket Ultimate Edition, Vol. 5 ⭐⭐⭐
Well, I realized at half-way through that this was actually volumes 9 & 10 instead of volume 5 which was the next book I needed to read. Sometimes what you request at my library and what gets sent are two different things. I probably would have liked it more had I not been so confused the whole time. 🤣
Sailor Moon Eternal Edition 7 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I love these so much. They have the same appeal of the 1960's Adam West Batman tv show with all of the BAM! KER-POW! but instead it's Moon Prism Power and talking cats.

QOTW:
No spooky reads planned just trying to clear out the physical library book pile and get some new publications done before the Goodreads choice awards. I like reading popular books because people use them to make recommendations. I also like voting for the awards and it's better if you've actually got a book you've read to vote for instead of guessing in the dark.
