I joined the aty read-a-thon and have been enjoying that this past week. It's fortunate that my teammates read audio books because I do not. It's also nice to have my computer back to properly post. 😀
Finished Reading:
Lost in the Moment and Found ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (ATY novella)
I love this series.
Chobits, Vol. 3 ⭐⭐⭐
Interesting ideas, some are cringy though.
Deadly Class, Volume 12: A Fond Farewell, Part Two ⭐⭐⭐⭐
A decent ending and the least depressing of the bunch.
Sweep of the Heart ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (PS self-published)
My favourite Innkeeper hands down.
The Hurting Kind: Poems ⭐⭐⭐ (PS shortest on the tbr)
This was decent although I think I could have liked it better with less bird imagery. (not a bird fan) Oddly enough though the stand out poem was about confusing birds and leaves in the fall. 🤣
Mysteries of Thorn Manor ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (ATY author with popular name in 1923 Margaret)
This was a cute ya novella following Sorcery of Thorns.
PS 2023 8/50
ATY 2023 5/52

QOTW:
I've never been in a book club in real life. Off the top of my head I'd pick The Southern Book Club's Guide to Slaying Vampires so long as I would not need to reread this. I don't see why so many people love this.

I read two of my most anticipated 2023 reads this past week and really enjoyed them.
QOTW:
I was surprised when I reread Magic Triumphs by Ilona Andrews because it was even better than when I read it the first time.

QOTW:
Before goodreads the only quotes I noticed were from movies/tv so the one that comes to mind is from The Cellist Of Sarajevo by Stephen Galloway which I only read last year. A character is remembering a joke.
A pessimist says 'Oh dear, things can't possibly get any worse. ' And an optimist says, 'Don't be so sad. Things can always get worse.”

I borrowed a couple books from the library and have been waiting to read them once it became 2023, I was not starting early. The first was Pans Labyrinth: Labyrinth of the Faun. It was a gorgeous book that I used for based on a movie. I thought that prompt was harder until after I completed it and my brain clicked that all Buffy and Angel things come from a movie originally. 🤦♀️

In Waves by A.J. Dungo
It's non-fiction and has gorgeous artwork. Half the author dealing with grief through surfing and half history of surfing.
For Heartstopper: Volume One fans I would recommend Fence, Vol. 1 for this prompt.

Shatter me would fit love triangle
Guest list is set on an island if you’re doing Nadine’s challenge

Interstellar Cinderella modern retelling of a classic
Harold and the Purple Crayon tv show or movie 2023, colour in the title
The Book with No Pictures for text only on the cover
A Day in the Life of Marlon Bundo rabbit and/or queer lead
Purple, Green and Yellow colour in the title

This Christmas was really great and I got to have lots of family gatherings. Nothing like being cramped in a house all together happy and loud.
We had a freezing rain storm but fortunately family was all home by then and not on highways.
Finished Reading:
Pippin The Christmas Pig ⭐
This picture book was rather awful and I was forced to listen to it at a Christmas Eve church service.
Saga, Volume 10 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I got this for Christmas and tore through it. How can it still be so good?
The Woman in Cabin 10 ⭐⭐⭐
A quick mystery/thriller read that described the luxury cruise ship setting to be quite creepy.
Chobits, Vol. 1 ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Had no idea going into this manga and I'm hooked on the story.

Merry Christmas to those celebrating and Happy holidays if that's a better fit. Most of Canada is in sever weather watches right now just like the US seems to be. It was really unpleasant to go out and about for groceries today. We're keeping our finger crossed that some family can actually catch a flight here in time for Christmas, since the first scheduled ones were cancelled.
I finally finished the challenge today! 🥳 Now I'm worried about reading books that will fit next year's challenge before it's 2023.
Finished Reading:
The Awakening as Told by the Boys ⭐⭐⭐
This just solidified which characters I like to read POVs from and which ones I don't.
Horses Make a Landscape Look More Beautiful:Poems ⭐⭐⭐
I felt like some poetry. Nothing stood out good or bad.
That Time I Got Drunk and Saved a Demon ⭐⭐⭐
The title was too entertaining to ignore this book. It was a good laugh and it was short.
Daisy Jones & The Six ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (2022 Musician/Band)
I loved this so much. I'm really glad I got this for Christmas last year.

Published in 2022 but Anisfield-Wolf and Pacific Islander were really good too.

Message number of your list post (if you've got one): #328
Favorite prompt (and what book did you read for it?): Probably published in 2022 and I had to wait until August for Ruby Fever. It did not disappoint.
Favorite book (and what prompt was it for?): The Poet X and I slotted it into a book by a latinx author. I loved this book so much I then read everything else by Acevedo.
Was there a book you especially enjoyed that you never would have read if not for the Challenge? (and what prompt was it for?) : Year of the Reaper for a book by a Pacific Islander author.
Least favorite prompt: Pallendromic title, although I really didn't like the duology and twin cities.
Prompt you hope to see again: Anisfield-Wolf and Pacific Islander prompts because they did push me out of my usual for the better.
Last prompt you finished: A book about a muscians or a band. Daisy Jones & The Six was so good!
Were you overall satisfied with your Challenge reading?: Well I finished so that's good, but I started off so well and then about half-way through the year I struggled to complete prompts. I had made a plan of things to read and I only stuck to 9 of those books.
Did you like the "double" theme for the "advanced" prompts?: I thought it was a good theme but I didn't like how it was applied.
Finally, are you in for 2023? Yes and I'm actually more excited about the repeat prompts because I'm going to try ATY for the first time and popsugar will be easier to fill without trying.

The Library Book by Susan Orlean has been in my house for several years and I have yet to r..."
There is a little flame on the cover so it counts. I really enjoyed that book so hopefully you will too.

Still haven't pushed myself to finish Daisy Jones to complete the challenge but oh well I'll get there before the year ends... I think. :)
National news was hilarious today because they showed a really long press conference on plowing snow in Ottawa. Apparently wet heavy snow compacts even more when the temperature drops to below zero Celius guys. 🤣
Finished Reading:
The Summer Deal ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Reread and I'm glad this still held up in making me laugh out loud.
Bayou Moon ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
It's been a while since I read this last and I had forgot a lot. Some of the characters in the series keep popping up in the author's Innkeeper series and I can't remember them so I've been wanting to get back to this series.
Be More Chill: The Graphic Novel ⭐⭐⭐
Random pick from overdrive. A sci-fi graphic novel that looked middle grade but is ya. Follows a teenage boy who takes a drug/supercomputer to be more cool, the downside shows up quick.

I like rabbit on the cover but mostly I'm excited for the prompts Nadine put up for the mini challenge and the ATY prompts.
