152458 Happy check-in! I realized I missed the first day of Spring. In my defense it's still been -15 here, although tomorrow it's supposed to be above 0 so it will feel like Spring. :)

Finished Reading:

Magic Tides ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (PS takes place in one day)
New KD lived up to my expectations. I can't wait for the next one in June.

Crown of Coral and Pearl ⭐⭐⭐ (PS first time author)
So why finish books I've started when I can grab a ya fantasy. Although this is very light on the fantasy aspect.

Chobits, Vol. 7 ⭐⭐ Chobits, Vol. 8
This series definitely had more volumes than story. So repetitive to have a very anticlimactic ending.

PS 25/50

The Adventures of Amina al-Sirafi
Fated Throne

QOTW:
I try to give books whenever possible. Most people have too much screen time so an non ebook is helpful.

152458 It’s rather funny that most everyone got the same three results, considering most people randomly picked answers.
152458 I enjoyed this book probably more because I was not familiar with Korean myths. I agree it was a choppy book with the mc going back and forth a lot. I’m a fan of first person as well, it usually makes for a faster read for me. I remember it did lag at times but I was still interested enough in the overall story to read further. I’m thinking though that I should down grade it a star now that it’s been a couple of weeks since I read it.

152458 Happy check-in! Lots of short reads this past week. Bye bye page count average.

Finished Reading:

Those Left Behind Better Days and Other Stories The Shepherd's Tale Leaves on the Wind Serenity: No Power in the 'Verse ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Clearing out the tbr.

Burn Bright ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (ATY repeat objects on cover)
One more in the series to go.

Into Every Generation a Slayer Is Born: How Buffy Staked Our Hearts ⭐⭐⭐ (PS set in Hollywood)
Almost dnfed this but I'm glad I didn't. I learned a couple of interesting things about the show/fandom I love.

Aquicorn Cove ⭐⭐⭐
I loved the Tea Dragon Society but this was disappointing. It does a good job promoting caring for the environment though.

Chobits, Vol. 6 ⭐⭐
I've committed to finishing this series but I'm not liking it much anymore. I want to know how it ends so I will continue.

Dear Ijeawele, or a Feminist Manifesto in Fifteen Suggestions ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
She makes some good points and I'm just a fan of how she writes.

Where the Crawdads Sing ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (PS celebrity book club)
I loved this, it didn't fall short of the hype for me. The poetry thrown in was a nice surprise.

Bloodlust & Bonnets ⭐⭐ (ATY author from continental Europe)
This was really stupid but it fit well for a prompt so I finished it.

QOTW:
I got Spring's Arcana and I've read this author before. The quiz was a marketing fail so it's put me off this book.
152458 @Teri I'm the opposite, I'll remember how the cover looks but the title and author will be long gone from my mind. 🙃

152458 Happy check-in! I finished Nadine's mini challenge this week. I thought for sure I would not be able to accomplish it in three months but ignoring all the books I planned worked for me. 😉 Literally, not a single book that I had planned. It was really fun, thanks Nadine.
All the furnace talk has reminded me to change our filter so thanks. We had a blizzard here to so joy of shoveling.

Finished Reading:

Trick of the Light ⭐⭐⭐ (ATY con, deception, or fake)
All the Norse mythology options that had been suggested to me were unavailable at the library. I went to my sister and she gave me this. A good urban fantasy set in Vegas.

Tear Down the Throne ⭐⭐⭐ (ATY tinker, tailor, soldier, spy)
Book two of a fantasy series.

iZombie, Vol. 1: Dead to the World ⭐⭐⭐
I loved this tv show. The comic is not as good, but the main character holds up.

Red River Resistance Northwest Resistance Road Allowance Era ⭐⭐⭐
A great comic series about Metis history. These would have been better had they been a bit longer. Each issue is 48 pages.

QOTW:

Typos bother me quite a bit. Although, one of my favourite books has the weirdest typo and it boggles that no one noticed it. The word responsibility has the pi symbol in the middle of it. 🤷‍♀️ I've grown quite fond of it.

152458 @Ron have you tried a weighted blanket to help you stay asleep once you do manage to fall asleep?

152458 Ended up using this: Trick of the Light by Rob Thurman.

152458 It’s Feyre from Court of thorns and roses. I like that series but I’m not going to defend it. It’s got problems.

I loved Jude but I also really liked the fairy bargains. This series is set in the fairy court so not NJ. There may be enough enemies to lovers though for you Nadine.

I'm on the side that the Folk of the Air series is fantastic. If you've read any of the tithe series then you're already familiar with the world in The Cruel Prince.

Thanks this is helpful. I realize that I have been assuming Rick Riordan books are connected to Percy Jackson or I confuse Magnus Chase with Magnus Bane. 🤦‍♀️

152458 Happy check-in! Does anyone have a Norse Mythology prompt option that isn't The Witch's Heart or Neil Gaiman?

Finished Reading:

Kill Joy ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
A prequel novella for the Good Girl's Guide To Murder series. This was nearly as good as the first book. Pip and her friend group have a murder mystery party.

Nightchaser ⭐⭐ (ATY Century 3)
I really enjoyed this author's fantasy ya debut I thought the adult space sci-fi would be good too. Instalove and not enough space adventure!

The Girl Who Fell Beneath the Sea ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (ATY body of water in title)
Great mythology retelling with dragons.

House of Slaughter, Vol. 2: Scarlet
First one star of the year. This was so disappointing and I had been looking forward to it so much. New characters, depressing drivel to setup a couple of good pages then back to depressing.

Island of the Blue Dolphins ⭐⭐⭐ (PS published before you were born)
It was nice enough. Interesting that this is based on history.

A Psalm for the Wild-Built ⭐⭐ (PS previous prompt: a.i., robot, cyborg)
Robot and human have philosophical conversations while camping. Not my jam.

That sounds like a perfect time to use the oven for something that needs to stay in there a long time. Loaves (ie. banana bread) are usually pretty good for needing an hour in the oven. Cheesecakes too. :)

152458 This month's BOTM works. The Girl Who Fell Beneath the Sea
152458 I enjoyed the line "Not all storytellers are grandmothers, but all grandmothers are storytellers."
152458 There my copy came in and I’ve started. That was a strong first chapter.
