"Em! Em, hurry up! We'll be late, and you know how Schoolmaster hates stragglers!"
"I'm coming, I'm coming - it's-just-this-stupid-"
"Emily! Your language!" Rose called, alarmed, putting a dainty hand her to mouth.
"I'm sorry, but I just can't get this on. It's too tight!" Emily growled at herself, and at the foot of the stairs Rose gave a little jump. "Oh, darn it all..."
After only a little while longer, Emily Abbott came tripping down the stairs, nearly purple in the face.
Rose giggled. "You look so funny! But are you alright?"
"I'm fine, let's just go," Emily said as best she could with the little breath she had left.
"But your hair," Rose pointed out, not moving from her spot at the foot of the stairs.
"Oh..." Emily stopped as Rose gave her a stern look. "Can't you do something really quick?"
Rose's face lit up with a smile. It was her favorite thing to play with her best friend's hair, and a chance to do so was a rare occasion indeed. "Gladly!" she said happily, pulling Emily to a nearby armchair, and beginning immediately. She was finished in less than five minutes, her mouth full of pins, but looking satisfied.
"That'll have to do..." Emily said, quickly giving a little turn in the mirror, studying her friend's work. "Now we really gotta go!"
"That will have to do, and now we do need to go - honestly, Em, your grammar these days -" But Rose was cut off as Emily ignored her, then dragged her out the door and both running as fast as they could in their calf-length dresses.
Huffing and puffing, Emily and Rose were able to slide into their seats just as the final bell rang and the doors closed. Rose shot Emily a stern look, smoothing out the folds in her dress, but Emily wasn't paying any attention. She was staring determinedly down at the paper in front of her, clearly desperately hoping the SchoolMaster wouldn't question the two on their very closely escaped tardiness.
The school day didn't seem to go by fast enough, and when it was finally noontime, and time for luncheon, Emily was famished.
"Boy oh boy am I hungry..." she said, licking her lips and getting ready to take a huge bite into her shiny new red apple.
"I don't know, are you?" Rose asked, daintily unfolding her napkin and placing it on her lap. Emily shot her a look, than bit, spraying juices everywhere. Rose grimaced and wiped a spot of apple off her cheek with her napkin.
"Phsor-y," Emily tried, but her mouth was too full, and by the look on Rose's face, she suspected she had just made it worse. Was it not good manners to talk with your mouth full? Emily supposed so. Rose would know. She was always telling Emily to "mind your manners, Em" and "Em! Your language!" at least a hundred times a day. Emily was used to it, but she still felt her best friend was just a little too uptight about those manners-things.

Also, I was wondering if you would like a folder of your own - we have some available ones left, if you're interested. Just say the word and I'll move this to your folder and there you can post more writing! :)

Appearance (when first introduced):

Personality: Emily is a proper, polite young lady - as she should be - as any young girl of her time was. When Alexis accidentally transported her, she was right in the middle of serving her visiting aunt some tea and cookies, so that was why she was all dressed up. Emily frequently uses big words and phrases that Alexis mostly ignores, but Pixel goes crazy trying to shut her up.
History: Emily Abbott was born to Elizabeth and Charles Abbott, as the third child. He eldest sister, Margaret, is 18, and acting like a proper young adult lady already, as Michael, who's only two years younger than her. After giving a hard birth to Emily, Elizabeth swore never to have another child, and so far that has been kept up. The family did get a cat, however, for young Emily to play with, and Winston and her spend a lot of time together, with her siblings all grown up.

"And you're still wearing Converse..." Alexis said, looking down at her light blue Converse shoes. Pixel shrugged. "They're always popular."
Personality: Pixel is the classic young teen of her time period. While her best friend, Elijah, would probably be the most interested-in-the-past person she knows and most likely to invent time travel, Pixel still finds the idea an interesting one. So, when she travels back in time right in the middle of her very important sitting-and-listening-to-music-on-her-bed-time, she isn't all entirely surprised to have found she traveled back in time.
History: Pixel grew up with four brothers, Flynn, Calix, Eero, and Mirco. The oldest, Flynn, is now 17 and has nothing to do with Pixel. She ignores him right back. Calix and Eero are twins, and only a year older than her, while Mirco is eight right now and has everything to do with his big sister, he loves her. Pixel mostly gets through her days with Elijah and Lysa, who had strangely similar names, but somehow no one had ever noticed. They liked hanging out at the Diner and chatting and sipping milkshakes.
