I'm fascinated by the idea of different types of gargoyles such as snake or dog. Is there an actual catalog of different types or did you invent that for the story?

Was it hard to write a, for lack of a better term, a historical paranormal YA? I haven't seen too many YA books set in a different time.

The angel/gargoyle/demon dynamic in your series is so interesting! Do you believe in angels?

You obviously have a great deal of affection/knowledge for Paris. Have you been there? Why is it such an influence on you?

So my first question is, why gargoyles?

Allana wrote: "What do you believe is the best part of YA fiction?"I love that YA has so many genres. One week I can read sci-fi or romance and the next I can read about dystopian worlds or zombies. =)

Do you mostly work out of a home office or head out to a library or a coffee shop?

I don't think I knew you had a daughter. Is it just one or do you have other kids?
Allana wrote: "How did you know your books were good enough to publish? What's the best advice you've been given during your writing career?"Hi Allana, glad to have you on the chat! So...that's a hard one. I guess I knew they were good enough because I read a lot. I'm a big believer in the idea that authors should be readers.
For advice, I suppose the best advice I've gotten was actually from Ann. She is excellent about marketing herself and getting a lot of writing done in a day. I've practiced getting my daily goal higher. I'm up to about 2500 words per day now. I started at about 500. Ann was very encouraging and I've improved a lot since I met her. She still outruns me by double. She does at least 5K per day.

What type of kid were you in high school? A nerd, a cheerleader, a choir kid, a drama kid, a brain?

Which year of high school was the most memorable for you?
