Crap. I was typing along and suddenly my response vanished. Let's see if I remember it...
I just finished chapter 14 and am ready to move on to the final section. There seems to me a whole lot of extraneous stuff in this book unrelated to the mystery at hand. Unless Lord Ingram turns out to be the murderer, just to gain the interest of Charlotte...
And it is hard to see how the deception of Charlotte being Sherlock can be kept up for very long.

I'm moving along now as well, and thankfully, so is the story. I am more drawn into the book now, where I wasn't earlier. To me, the thing could have used some editing. Its taken a long time to get to the point in many areas.

I've had a cold the past two days and have been neglectful in my reading as will--I just want to sleep!
I'll be back soon, though.

The stuff that comes after the dropped letter and the meeting of Mrs. Jebidiah, is the most interesting thing so far. And I do love Charlotte's way of deducing so much from appearances (including that of her former landlady). The first real Holmesian thing so far.

Good news is that I got the chance to spend a few days out of town, now that weather is breaking a tiny bit. Bad news, I forgot to pack the book. I'll join back in Thursday. Rats!

LovesMysteries: Good to hear from you! How are things?

I'm in the middle of chapter 8, so I should be ready.

I'm just starting chapter 8. There are actually two suspicious deaths, but no real detection at this point, though I suspect some is about to start.

As I am moving on, the clutter seems to be moving away and Charlotte is more clearly in the narrative. Whew!

I started last night and noticed the same thing, Tina. Author is bobbing all over the place with different people and settings. I hope things become clearer in the very near future.

I just picked up the book. Chapters 1 through 8 are a bit more than a third of the way through (some chapters are quite long!) The second third would be chap 9 through chapter 14. Then 15 to the end. This seems like roughly thirds of the book.

Mine has come in. I'll pick it up later today and let you all know about the page count.

I ordered from the library. I’ll start as soon as it gets in.

Tina: There was a See's store in two of our local malls, but they just closed before Christmas. Rats. I love their dark chocolate covered California Brittle/Toffee. I got a pound and a half before they closed!

Looks like we all had Junior in mind, but not Grace!

I like sponge candy, and as far as I know, it is pretty regional. My preference with chocolate, thought, in chocolate mint. Oh, and milk chocolate caramel. Oh, and chocolate coated toffee. Oh, and, well, never mind, there is a lot!

It looks like the Sherlock one for March? I’ll order it from the library.
