I think Hector be have turned the corner on the family past.

Have any of you ever read any of Diane Mott Davidson's books? I read some of the earlier ones, but none recently. I went to a used book sale and got three of them: The Last Suppers, Killer Pancake and The Grilling Season. Her detective, Goldy, is a caterer, so there is a lot of talk about food. Also, I got an Agatha Raisin. AR and the Haunted House. Anyone interested in any of those?

Tina: I'm not going to spoil anything! All is revealed at the end!

I think Harold and Alfred were also there for Christmas, and gone before the body was discovered. Back again AFTER the body was found, the same as Cedric.

I'm thinking that Cedric was there for Christmas, but though the murder had taken place, the body was not yet found. He had gone by the time Miss M was able to locate Lucy and get her installed at the house, and some more time until the body was found. So he wouldn't have met Lucy before he left for the first time.

We did get some hints early on about the posters, but I'm afraid I didn't pick up on that.
I was concerned that I missed something else somewhere, when there really only seemed to be two suspects. The blogger (sorry, I, too, turned the book in to the library and I've forgotten his name) and Hector. I thought there must be another option or two, and started looking at the staff. Perhaps Marty was really crazy and did the dirty deeds!

Hector was quite an unknown for a long time. Given his history and that of his brother, there was certainly cause for concern. On the other hand, another good looking, attractive man to worry about!

What Kate was doing was a great mystery for a long time!

I do see a series out of this book, with Trixie along for the ride!

Nicole: I agree, I was unsure of where things were going to end up. It seemed to me that this was likely to be a series (this one being the first) and so not likely that the gang at the Palace would be the murderer. That really left only two suspects, the "blogger" and Hector. It could have gone either way, in my opinion.

As I mentioned, I was a little taken aback at the appearance of a ghost in the story, thinking that that wasn't a good thing for a mystery. Like Tina, I grew to like Trixie, and her presence turned out to be not as silly as I thought it likely to be.

I finished, as you all know. By and large I liked it. I enjoyed the stuff about old movies a lot. I'm not sure when in the book it occurred, but it was great when they used their knowledge of the movies to help them find the "money that was hiding in plain site"!

As you know, I got this book through the library when I thought we'd discuss this in April. Not wanting to turn in right in, I ended up reading it. Since I've finished, I'll try not to write about things after the current section!
I am a big old movie fan, and have been trying to find a way to get Turner Classic Movies back, after dumping much of my former cable TV.
We do find an interesting band of characters at The Palace, and a body pretty quickly. I have to admit that I was disappointed when a ghost showed up, as I thought that was a weak device for a legitimate mystery novel. I did get past that pretty quickly, though!

Tina, I know there is a point early in the book where I was inclined to stop, as well. (When a ghost showed up!) But I stuck with it and am pretty glad that I did.

I hadn't thought about that, but you are right!

I'm not sure, but I thing it is going to be on one of the subscription channels, Netflix or Amazon.

I am ready!

Tina, I finished the book last night and I think you will all like it. I don't think it fell off anywhere, I just was taken aback at one point which I will have to save describing, for later.

Happy travels!

I love how everyone was dragged into the stocking salesman thing and then the tables were turned! Psychology solved this one again!
