I don't like books in a bag unless they are tailored for me specifically - I don't want random books to read that would probably just stay in the bag.
As for reviews - I use goodreads - but generally only read the 3 star ratings/reviews because they are not too biased... 1-2 they really didn't like it and 4-5 they really did like it (but either of these could be super biased because of favorite authors or genres or anything) - so I stick with the 3 star rating as they will generally tell you what they did like as well as what they didn't.
I only look at reviews from my friends if they have recommended a book to me that I have read and enjoyed - If I have enjoyed it then I will value their opinion in the review.

I hope I made sense in that... LOL - I feel like I was rambling :)

Never heard of it - I have seen the author's name at the library.

This month the challenges are...
1. Read a book with a white cover or spine.
2. Read a book with a character you have dressed up as or plan to dress up as for Halloween. (Or any other event that requires a costume if you don't celebrate Halloween).
3. Read a book from the following list on Goodreads: The Most Disturbing Books Every Written.
4. Read a book set in autumn.
5. Listen to a new author to you. Check out our collection of books on CD at the library or one or our premium websites: Overdrive - RB Digital - Hoopla.
6. Stop by the circulation desk at the Central Library during Monster Fest October 7, 2017 and ask for me and get a free point.
7. Read a banned book that you haven't read in the past.

This mini challenge has been fun and interesting. I have picked random challenges these last 9 months and only completed like 3 or 4 of them. Then I thought to myself - why not pick a take it or leave from something I'm currently reading and guarantee myself a point. (I think that is cheating and I'm not a cheater.) It would be nice to have a simple take it or leave it though.
Welcome to the Easy Take it or Leave it September challenge.
Here are the challenges:
1. Finish a book you started last month.
2. Read a four or five star book from a friend's goodreads read list.
3. Read a book with a brown cover.
4. Read a graphic novel that is based on a novel. Also, Shobou Con is this month at the library check out more info here.
5. Claim your free point by responding to this post with the title of your all time favorite book and why it is your favorite.
6. Claim your second free point by responding to this post with the title of your least favorite book and why you didn't like it.
7. Claim your third and final free point by responding to this post with the length of time you have been a card holding library patron and tell me what you love most about your library.

I am amending this challenge so that you can find a book with a cover similar to the hungry caterpillar - maybe an abstract one or has similar colors or simple illustrations. Also, I will add to the challenge that the book can be about a metamorphosis - that should help you find more titles or interesting plots. Thanks for all the feedback!
