I've read some books from the Born in Blood Maria chronicles... but I was obsessed with the first 4 books of the spin-off series "The Camorra Chronicles" by Cora Reilly.
(especially book 2 and 4, 'cause Nino Falcone is my book-bf: Twisted Emotions & Twisted Bonds).

If we were villains is one of my "best reads" of 2021. Loved it, especially after The Secret History... great combo!

One of my favorite novel of all time is The Secret History by Donna Tartt, I've read it for the first time last year and I think about it on a weekly basis ever since.
May I suggest you a couple of other books that you might like, based on your list?
- If We Were Villains, the plot is somewhat similar to The Secret History. Almost 5 star reading, in my opinion.
- We Were Liars great GREAT book, loved it.
- The Song of Achilles, because this is another classic of contemporary retelling that you might enjoy. Another favorite of mine!
