118012 The idea of having 3 group reads at the same time is so that people will have a choice of group reads to participate in. If we only have 3 members participating in the YA group read, that's fine. As long as they're enjoying themselves, numbers don't really matter. There will still be 2 other group reads for others to enjoy, so nobody will be missing out. We certainly don't expect everyone to participate in all 3 group reads every month. :)

118012 We could always put contemporary/YA together in the monthly genre challenge?

118012 True. Yeah, I like the list as it stands. :)

118012 Two 40's in a row! Good luck to you both. :)

118012 Wouldn't either definition of contemporary be included in other genres?

118012 I like Classic, YA, General myself. We have to keep in mind that we have a wide variety of readers in this group. The monthly genre challenge is going to be stretching people's limits already, so we don't really need to be doing that for the all-around group reads, too. We need to channel the nominations down a particular road if we're going to get the pickier readers to join in. If we open the nominations for any genres and age ranges, every group read is going to get the same nominations every time, and the results will probably exclude a lot of the members who would have skipped the Classic read and participated in the YA read, or skipped the Contemporary read and participated in the Classic read, etc, if you see what I mean. Having 3 group reads going on at the same time that cover 3 distinct literary audiences would cover the largest amount of members, in my opinion.

LOL!!"

That's a good way to do it, Allison - sample-read them with the Nook, then buy them as a physical book if you love them. :)

118012 Yes, I'd say Fantasy/SciFi together. Literary could be lumped in with Classic, I suppose? It would save confusion about which is which, haha!

If it comes down to it, Utopian/Dystopian would technically fall under SciFi, wouldn't it?

What is Contemporary?

118012 Great goals, everyone!

And welcome, Marzie! I agree, a lot of the enjoyment of reading is lost if you read too fast. Good luck with your goal! :)

118012 Welcome, Melissa! Of course it's alright - everyone's welcome here. :)

Welcome, Francine! I know what you mean about having a massive stack of unread books that only seems to grow, haha. And yet I keep bringing stacks home from the library as well! It's a sickness, it really is. :)

118012 Welcome, Emad and dely! It's great to have you both here. :)

Dely, your reading challenge can be anything you want it to be, not necessarily that you read certain books at certain times. Most of us are just setting ourselves a set amount of books to read, or perhaps challenging ourselves to read books out of our comfort-zone genre, or something along those lines. Any personal challenge at all will do. As long as we're reading, it's all good!

Dostoyevsky rules. :D

118012 Zarathustra is Nietzsche, right? I haven't read his work yet, but it's on my list. :)
