118012 If you could sit down to a meal and a long, in-depth chat with 3 authors, whether they're alive today or they're magically brought back to life just for you, which 3 would you choose?

118012 Welcome, Jessica!
118012 Time to nominate books for our very first monthly World Literature Group Read! The part of the world we'll be focusing on in January is South America. Feel free to nominate any book that is either written or set in South America, or that is written by a South American author.

Here is a helpful list of South American countries - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_...

Please note: Central America (Mexico, Caribbean nations, etc) is part of NORTH America.

Please try to limit yourself to one nomination for each group read, and linking to the book is appreciated. No YA nominations for this group read, please. This thread will be open for 2 days - the polls will go up on Dec. 18.
118012 Time to nominate books for our first Genre Group Read of 2015! The genre of the month for January is Historical fiction. We're defining "historical fiction" as any work of fiction that is set 50 years or more before the year it was written.

(For example, A Tale of Two Cities by Dickens was considered historical fiction for its day because it was written in the 1850s about events that happened in the 1700s, whereas Dickens' Oliver Twist was set in Dickens' present day. Therefore, A Tale of Two Cities would fit for this genre, but Oliver Twist would not.)

Please try to limit yourself to one nomination for each group read, and linking to the book is appreciated. No YA nominations for this group read, please. This thread will be open for 2 days - the polls will go up on Dec. 18.
118012 Time to nominate books for our first Nonfiction Group Read of 2015! We're doing this group read a little different for 2015 - each month we'll focus on a different sub-genre of nonfiction rather than asking for nominations from any and all areas of the nonfiction world.

The nonfiction sub-genre for January is History. Any historical nonfiction nominations are welcome! If it happened in the past, this is the month to read about it. :)

Please try to limit yourself to one nomination for each group read, and linking to the book is appreciated. No YA nominations for this group read, please. This thread will be open for 2 days - the polls will go up on Dec. 18.
