118012 Welcome William, Laura, and Debs!
118012 I agree, Srividya, the setup was perfect. Lots of background information, but it didn't drag on or feel boring at all - I was fascinated with every word!

I read The Boys in the Boat recently, too, and I thought the overlap between the two books was really cool. It seems like everyone on their way to the Berlin Olympics had an incredible story to tell!

118012 I'm enjoying Pickwick a lot more on re-read. I wasn't sure what it was all about when I first read it, since I'd read Dickens' heaviest books first and this was more of a collection of silly adventures, but now that I know it's a collection of silly adventures I've felt free to sit back and just enjoy them. I'm also pretty impressed at how he worked in so many random short stories, and how many social issues he explored in those before jumping right back into the silliness. Good way to ease the audience into accepting his later works!

That's one thing I hate about using an audiobook - no pictures! There's such a long waiting list at my library for the physical book that I didn't bother even putting my name down for it, but now I'm regretting that. I hope to get this book for my dad's birthday or Father's day or something, so hopefully I'll see the pictures then!

118012 Welcome, everyone!
118012 I really enjoyed Paulo Coelho's The Devil and Miss Prym.

118012 Excellent, Elise! I think mixed feelings is a sane reaction to this book, heh! It gets pretty twisted, but that's what I love about it. :)

118012 What I think about Dune involves a lot of capital letters and exclamation points, so it's best not to get me started. Suffice it to say - it's an awesome read.

We've all probably been too absorbed in the story to comment on it, Kassandra! Wow, is it ever a page turner.
118012 I'm about halfway through it. Hillenbrand is an excellent writer!
118012 Roseanne wrote: "I must know if you like the film. I loved the book so much that I have been afraid to watch the movie."

I actually enjoyed the movie slightly more than the book, since the few issues I had with the book didn't exist in the movie. The casting of Rudy took some getting used to, but other than that, I think they captured the feel of the book really well.

It looks to me like you're not setting your "date read" dates. They only appear on the overall challenge widget if you give them the date you finished reading it.

118012 I've moved this to the "Personal Challenges - 2015" folder for you, Linda.

118012 Wow, so many newbies! Awesome! Welcome, everyone!

Allison wrote: "Is there any way to create more challenge widgets?? They are really cool."

I think only groups (and Goodreads itself) can create widgets. I love them, too!

118012 LOL I love your spoiler cut within a spoiler cut, Happy. :D
118012 Sad news - Edward Herrmann, the actor who narrates the audiobook for this book, died yesterday of brain cancer.

I'm kind of devastated. Richard Gilmore! I was about to start listening to the audiobook today, but now I don't know if I can. :(
