Mission: Claim at least one "Bingo!" before March 20 (the first day of spring)!

RULES & GUIDELINES

Not too many of these as it is supposed to be fun after all :)

* As with traditional Bingo, you can go for a horizontal, vertical, diagonal, "X" or "around the world" (perimeter). Or aim big and go for a black out (all squares)!

* A book can only be used once on the sheet.

* Interpret the categories as broadly as you like.

* Feel free to copy and paste the template below to record your books:

118012 Look for January Minis to be posted closer to the New Year.
Dec 26, 2017 04:11PM

118012 You can ask questions here about the challenges in this folder.

Mini-Challenges will typically run for one month. New minis will appear each month on a variety of topics.

RULES: Just One....
You can use your Mini-Challenges to help you complete your Year-Long and Maxi-Challenges, but you can't crossover Minis.

So if you find a book during January that's a debut novel about Human Rights Issues in Asia, you'll have to choose one Mini for which you want it to count.

118012 This is for those of us who love reading series novels. A bit tricky since that can mean anywhere from 3 to 30 novels! So you just need to choose a series and set a goal. Graphic novel series are welcome.

The Plan...
Level 1: Grab A Spoon: 3-4 books/volumes of the same series
Level 2: Pour The Milk: 5-10 books/volumes of the same series
Level 3: Crunch! Crunch! Crunch!: more than 10 books/volumes in a single series read this year

-You can do this for more than one series, but you need to post them separately.
-You don't have to read the entire series. For example, You may choose to read the first 3-4 books of one series, then start a new challenge with a different series. Depending on your reading habits.
-Also, you don't have to start with the first book in the series, as long as you have at least 3 books still to read. For example, I've already read 11 books of O'Brian's Aubrey-Maturin series, but there are more than 20 in the series, so I could start with Book 12 and go from there.

118012 Decade Challenge

This will run all year.
The idea is to try to read and record ONE book originally published in each decade listed. Your end result should be a list of the 22 decades posted here, with one book you've read beside each decade. (Feel free to cut and paste the template below to get started.)

Some members will have posted a mockup of this challenge in their personal goal threads, for ease of organization. This is the official thread for posting lists and sharing ideas about how to complete this challenge.

Also, GR does a "Best Books of ____" by decade, which is really helpful. You can access through LISTOPIA or Google "Best Books of (decade/year)" to get to them.

Personally, I really love the way this challenge forces me to read beyond my comfort zone.

118012 I'm going to suggest that you cut & paste your "totals" template here once you hit the 50-Book mark, then keep going. There should be plenty of people who read beyond that point & will help keep up the momentum. :D
Dec 26, 2017 03:43PM

118012 Some of you will go way beyond 50 books this year. This is a place to share your achievements after you complete the 50 Book Challenge. Go, You!

118012 This challenge is a little different and a throw-back to the origins of the Reading Challenge group.

Mission: Read 50 books this year.

Plan: Keep track of your books any way you wish (in the Personal Goal folder, for example), then update here EACH MONTH with your total for the month and the year so far.

p.s. I have no plans to keep an overall group tally. But feel free to congratulate and encourage each other as you see members reporting their progress.
