"It was a crimson and purple and golden Christmas; for there was much love and good-will there, and these things give colour to Christmas"-L.M. MontgomeryLove and goodwill are the 2 things that are most important in our life and if your Christmas has these, nothing else is necessary.
There is a website that has this quote and is all about Edwardian Christmas. I thought it was lovely and we want all things lovely for this group.

I will be posting a quote of the month. Usually a quote from Anne, but also from Maud herself and her other works. One that I think is uplifting for us in whatever we are facing in that month. I hope it is uplifting to you wherever you are.
There are many other works by Maud and as you can see this year we have only just started. These are some I am interested in:The Emily Starr Trilogy (aren't the covers beautiful; I would love this collection)
Emily of New Moon
Emily Climbs
Emily's Quest
A Tangled Web
The Story Girl
The Golden Road
Pat of Silver Bush
Mistress Pat
Jane of Lantern Hill
Kilmeny of the Orchard
Magic for Marigold
The Road to Yesterday
The Doctor's Sweetheart and Other Stories
Along the Shore: Tales by the Sea
Among the Shadows: Tales from the Darker Side\
Akin to Anne: Tales of Other Orphans
Please post any of her fictional works that you may be interested in reading at some point. These could possibly be buddy reads this year or if there is enough interest we could do as group reads in 2023.

Possibles:A World of Songs: Selected Poems, 1894-1921 by L.M. Montgomery (this is actually a poetry book but I thought it would be good as an additional to a work of fiction)
A Writer's Garden: Inspired Photographs with Selected Writings by L. M. Montgomery by Sandra Wagner
A Name for Herself: Selected Writings, 1891-1917
The Complete Journals of L.M. Montgomery: The PEI Years, 1889-1900

Hi Brian, I'm sorry about your brother. That is indeed an aggressive kind of cancer. My father had cancer but was it was not so aggressive and he lived with it and had cancer treatments for 20 years. But he still died too young at the age of 57.
I also love the opening of Anne with an E. Very beautiful and very catchy. How do the later series compare to the first one?
I didn't have a problem picking the works of fiction by Maud but I haven't decided on all the nonfiction books. I thought I would add those I knew I wanted to read to the schedule but there are still plenty of months for suggestions. So please post below if you have any good ideas; either a book you have read and can recommend or ones you have wanted to read.
Diana wrote: "I can't tell you how glad I am to be part of this group and re-read or read books by one of my favourite authors. you Tracey for inviting me and for planning this and for starting this group ..."Hi Diana (lovely name and so appropriate for this group.) I was hoping there would be other kindred spirits out there so it's wonderful to have you on board. Thank you for your kind words and blessings to you also.
Lesle wrote: "Oh this is great Tracey! Thank you :)"Thank you Lesle. It's something I wanted to read this read so I thought why not make a group because there may be others who just need a little motivation to jump into these books. :) I think we all need some cosy, uplifting literature in our lives, and kindred spirits of course.
Hi Brian, Thanks for the overview of the age of Anne in the books. I didn't know this and if you don't mind can I copy it. I loved the Anne of Green Gables series with Megan Follows and Jonathan Crombie; they will always be for me the definitive Anne and Gilbert. I saw the first series of Anne with an E and liked it although the series deviates very much from the books. If you watch it with this in mind I think it's enjoyable. If you want one closer to the books then definitely the 1980's version.
I have read the first 4 books of the Anne series and wanted to focus on the books when Anne is older, so I will be starting at book 5, but I have put the first 4 books for January and February for people to catch up. Most people I know have read these early books so I hope this is ok. After that, I hope to read 1 fiction a month and 1 nonfiction every month/2 months
