1176148 My End June 2024 Update
I ended up reading 14 books in June, 8 in the last half. For the first half of the year, I've read 69, with two DNF's. I'm ahead of my planned read for 2024 by 9 books. Roughly 17,000 pages, which is an indication of how many graphics and relatively short books I've tried.

These are the books I completed in the 2nd half of June -

Completed

1. The Paton Street Case by John Bingham, an excellent mystery / police procedural set in London. 4.5 stars
2. The Stonekeeper by Kazu Kibuishi, the 1st book in the Amulet graphic novel series. I liked it and have two more on my book shelf now. 4.0 stars
3. The Hundred Years' War on Palestine: A History of Settler-Colonial Conquest and Resistance, 1917-2017 by Rashid Khalidi Thoughtful look at war in Palestine from a Palestinian perspective. 4.0 stars
4. East of West, Vol. 1: The Promise by Jonathan Hickman. Another new graphic novel series I decided to try. Dystopian future and the 4 Horsemen of the Apocalypse. Interesting. 3.0 stars
5. Surfeit of Lampreys by Ngaio Marsh As always, an Inspector Alleyn mystery is entertaining and a jolly good mystery. Surprised me. 4.0 stars
6. Global by Eoin Colfer Colfer is known for his Artemis Fowl books. This is a graphic about two young people, one in India, one in the northern Canada, both trying to deal with the effects of climate change. Powerful story, excellent. 4.0 stars
7. Complete Cartoons of the New Yorker by Robert Mankoff A look at 8 decades of New Yorker cartoons, some just neat, some chuckle - worthy, many belly laughs. Fodder for my future posts in other sites too. 4.0 stars
8. Ratlines by Stuart Neville Tenxe, at times violent thriller set in Ireland. 4.0 stars

Currently Reading
1. 12 + 4 - Ursula K. Le Guin - The Left Hand of Darkness (Hainish stories #4). I've read a couple of times and am enjoying just as much as previously
2. 12 + 0 - Sci Fi - The Caves Of Night by John Christopher I think this might not be Sci - Fi, more just a tension packed story... eventually, about a group trapped underground
3. Series books - Sidney Chambers and the Perils of the Night by James Runcie, the 2nd book in the Grantchester series. Also my July focus book
-- Six Ostriches by Philipp Schott, the 2nd Dr. Bannerman mystery, ostriches, Viking stuff, etc.
4. Non - Series challenge - With the Fire on High by Elizabeth Acevedo. This is my 3rd book by Acevedo and I'm hoping it's as good as the others.
5. Tome Challenge (books over 500 pages) - The Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson (Stormlight Archive #1). It's a slow burn but every time I pick it up I enjoy and the pages flow. It is a tome.. :)
-- Wanderers by Chuck Wendig. I decided not to wait to finish off The Way of Kings before starting this. It looks interesting.
6. Monthly Focus Author - W.J. Burley. Burley writes the Inspector Wycliffe mysteries. I've enjoyed them very much. Wycliffe and the Pea-Green Boat (Wycliffe #6)
