The Institute by Stephen King"

Around the time of Gerald's Game, I kind of got tired of King. I'm only slowly getting back to his books.

You have to read them. Lovely stories.

I'm enjoying Saga as well, but you know that. :)
1176148 I read the two Winnie the Pooh books in university... just because.. I was bereft when Christopher Robin grew up... Chokes me up even now.. I need to read another Oz book.

Instead of sitting here at the computer, I should get reading... Totally agree.

1176148 Mid - July Reading Update
So it's official. The 2nd half of 2024 has started. 😃 My first update of the 2nd half. I've completed 5 books, had hoped to finish one more, but it'll have to be tomorrow maybe. Only one book above 200 pages but hey, that's ok.

Completed
1. The Caves Of Night by John Christopher A tense story about a group of 5 people who get trapped after a cave - in in some caves in Austria and must find an alternative route out to freedom. 4.0 stars
2. Wycliffe & The Pea-Green Boat by W.J. Burley (Chief Inspector Wycliffe #6). Probably my favorite so far. Murder mystery covering two decades. Probably my favorite so far. 4.0 stars
3. The Great British Bump-Off by John Allison A fun, beautifully drawn and colored graphic combining a cooking show and an Agatha Christiesque mystery 3.0 stars (I've ordered another graphic from this author)
4. Kronk by Edmund Cooper A strange little Sci Fi story about a scientist who creates a form of VD that will stop people from having hateful feelings. (2.5 stars)
5. Saga, Volume 7 by Brian K. Vaughan Probably my go to graphic novel series at the mooment (although there are others I also really enjoy). Great artwork and coloring and always an excellent story (4.0 stars)

Currently Reading
(I have too many on the go because I keep adding books before I finish a book. But that's the cross I've got to bear. 😉)
1. Wycliffe and the Schoolgirls by W.J. Burley (Wycliffe #7). I'm almost finished this one. Most enjoyable. Once again, events from a decade previously lead to murders in the present. So well-written
2. In the Lives of Puppets by T.J. Klune I added this because I saw Lea and Ioana were reading it. Of course, they've already finished, but hey ho. Just started but it looks interesting.
3. Time Gladiator by Mack Reynolds It's the fourth book in a series but it doesn't seem to matter so far. Interesting start
4. The Left Hand of Darkness by Ursula K. Le Guin I've read this a few times but wanted to reread because it fits into my Ursula K Le Guin 12 + 4 challenge. I keep putting it aside for shiny new objects but have focused more on it of late. Still great.
5. The Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson Interesting fantasy, one of my Tomes. It's an easy read so far.
6. Sidney Chambers and the Perils of the Night by James Runcie The second collection of Grantchester mysteries by James Runcie. It's my July focus book. I've finished the first story so far.
7. Wanderers by Chuck Wendig My other tome. Hearkens a bit to The Stand. Flows nicely.
8. Six Ostriches by Philipp Schott The 2nd book in the Veteranarian mysteries by Schott... Features Viking artifacts, ostriches and animal murders. What's not to like, eh?
9. With the Fire on High by Elizabeth Acevedo My third book by Acevedo. Another coming of age story.

Possible Nexts
1. Pavane Pavane by Keith Roberts by Keith Roberts (for my 12 + 0 Sci Fi challenge)
2. Wycliffe in Paul's Court Wycliffe in Paul's Court (Wycliffe Series) by W.J. Burley by W.J. Burley (If I have time to read one more Wycliffe mystery in July, otherwise I'll be switching to my August focus, which I believe is Georges Simenon.
3. Lessons in Chemistry Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus by Bonnie Garmus I'm looking forward to this. I've watched two or three episodes of the TV series, but I want to try the book
4. The Dispossessed The Dispossessed by Ursula K. Le Guin by Ursula K. Le Guin
5. Old Man's War Old Man's War (Old Man's War, #1) by John Scalzi by John Scalzi
6. The Poisoned Pilgrim The Poisoned Pilgrim (The Hangman's Daughter, #4) by Oliver Pötzsch by Oliver Pötzsch

There you go folks. Enjoy your summer and your reading.

I agree with the having to wait thingee.. That's why, ultimately, I stopped reading the Anita Blake books... besides that they weren't as good any more...
