Well before Harry Potter and Witch Mountain there were magical children having adventures!
Darkrose and Diamonds by Ursula K. Le Guin ★★★½☆
“And will I tell you that these three lived happily ever after? I will not, for no one ever does. But there was happiness. And they did live.”
- Stephen King
That was a better summation to this wandering tale of life, magic, and love than Le Guin managed.
The Valley of the Worm by Robert E. Howard ★★★½☆
The final battle of a Sword & Sorcery legend.
The Golden Key by George MacDonald ★★★½☆
Two youths go on a quest but are separated early. Eventually, they find their way back to each other and their promised land.

I don’t know what this meant.
Angel, Dark Angel DNF
This went in too many directions and I lost interest.
Walpurgisnacht ★★★☆☆
The progenitor of a family fortune finds a way to have a merry afterlife and his dependent family still resents it.
The George Business ★★★½☆
George bargains with a dragon to help him become a Baron. It doesn’t work out but it does lead to a potentially lucrative business. It was a light and funny story.
Some Parameters… ★★★☆☆
An interesting introspection of science fiction and its personal meaning to the author.

Absolutely magical. It was a Jim Henson movie of an 80s childhood. Beautiful.

Could be good.

The old school action movie vibes make me smile.

One more lyric for Alanis Morissette’s Ironic. I enjoyed reading about the mystery of the Mary Celeste.

That bit of epilogue was the least believable. He just yada yada’d the terrorist-Murderbot to National-treasure-we-will-invest-millions-in before releasing. What America is that, lol?!?! The little “this doesn’t really make me happy” last line made me laugh though.

Creative and mildly entertaining.
My Lady of the Diodes DNF
Two pages in and I had no desire to continue. Not bad but not engaging.
