1167739 You should be fine, Trisha. From memory, I think I read a few of the later ones first and then went back and read from the start

1167739 I guess like most of these types of series, they can definitely be read (and enjoyed) as standalones but you just lose a little bit of the affection you build for the characters over the series.

1167739 Hi Poppy. Welcome to the group

1167739 We get lots of big authors on NG in the UK but I have never seen any of them on Read Now. You will occasionally get an email from Netgalley saying a major authors book is Read Now for the first 100 readers, but most Read Nows in the UK are smaller publishers trying to get their books in front of many people as possible

1167739 Quick question. I was really surprised to see that this was a Read Now on Netgalley as its not Read Now in the UK. In the UK, where I am (Scotland, specifically) Coben is one of the biggest, most popular writers on his generation. If you are not in the UK, how is Coben viewed in your country?

1167739 I've read this one and really enjoyed it. Happy reading if you get approved
Jan 16, 2025 11:33PM

1167739 Yeah it definitely works as a standalone. It is not a continuation of the Fool Me Once storyline, just the same detective, so even if you haven't read Fool Me Once you should still go for it

1167739 Vicki, I think if it's available on KU or Libby and is therefore past it's publication date then I think it's fine to withdraw. Approval is unlikely post-publication in my experience

1167739 I've just finished it and gave it 5 stars

1167739 Just been sent a widget for The New Neighbours which I am looking forward to.

1167739 Hi Vicky. I have this one but I'm actually reading it just now. It's not actually a sequel in the sense of it being a continuation of the story from Fool Me Once, it's just a new story with the same Detectice, Sami Kierce

1167739 Just been approved for Harlan Coben's new novel Nobody's Fool

1167739 The Death of Us is pretty brutal to be honest, really stark, so hope that's okay for you. The Favourites is really good too, hope you enjoy both
Jan 02, 2025 05:06AM

1167739 It's hard to narrow it down to just one so for me, I would go for The Favourites by Layne Fargo, The Death of Us by Abigail Dean, and this was the year which I finally got around to reading The Kite Runner by Khalid Hosseini which I can't stop thinking about

1167739 What was your fave book of the year Vicki? if you had to pick just one?
Jan 01, 2025 07:54AM

1167739 I finished the year having read and reviewed 147 books on Netgalley which included, in the past few days, my 500th review on the site. I'm currently sitting with 515 books approved and I've reviewed 502 so feedback ratio is 97%.

None of the 13 books still to review are overdue, in fact, I think the next one to publish isn't until March so still have plenty of time
