I've read The Death of Us, and all I will say is be prepared. It was an amazing book, but it was such an uncomfortable read.

I'm still pending, but I am hopeful. Assuming I am approved, I am happy for the end of July
or beginning of August

Mine is still pending, but I am hopeful of getting it. I've been offered widgets of her last couple of books so 🤞. Don't let me hold you back from setting a date or anything, but if it was a week or so away then that should hopefully give me time to get an approval (or rejection)

I love Janice Hallett, one of my favourite authors. I have requested this one but it is still pending. I haven't been refused a book in about 2 years so I am hopeful I will be approved. Would love buddy read if I get it

You could have given me 100 attempts to guess how that was going to turn out and I would never have guessed that ending!

The whole story is so tragic, I loved Nic and Jenna's friendship and in another life they would have been best friends. To see Nic take the action she felt she had to take and kill Jenna just broke me.

And that final scene with Jenna and Jules buried in the same place, reunited in some way in death was just...I don't have the words.

I wonder how Nic would cope now she has the knowledge and guilt over both deaths. Given her struggles it would be easy to see her disintegrate into her addiction but the hope of being with Kasey again would maybe pull her through.

Will anyone even miss Jenna? Thats what makes me sad the most.

Definitely didn't make any sense for Jenna to go cold on the hunt but my heart breaks for the reasons why. The bond between her and Nic is really strong and they both definitely need each other. We seem to have our 'who' already but not sure if there is another twist to come.

I knew Brad was dodgy but I didn't foresee the affair with Kasey. It's too early in the book for the main suspect to be identified as of yet so I am thinking Brad is a creep but probably not our main man (or woman)

I immediately like Nic. Yeah, she has her issues but her relationship with Kasey was clearly so strong (given their childhood) that it's understandable it has affected her so much.

One thing which I wasn't sure about was the fact she is only now just meeting Jenna. I would have thought given the circumstances of their sisters' disappearance that they would have looked to have met before now?

Keen to progress with this after work and look forward to seeing how it pans out. Surely they can't still be alive?

You should be fine, Trisha. From memory, I think I read a few of the later ones first and then went back and read from the start

I guess like most of these types of series, they can definitely be read (and enjoyed) as standalones but you just lose a little bit of the affection you build for the characters over the series.
