Hi Kira, welcome to the group

It will be a good book to buddy read, lots going on, and lots to work out.

I'm generally hit or miss with Alice Feeney but I did enjoy My Husband's Wife

I've read it. I thought it was good, 3.5 stars rounded up to 4.

I did enjoy the book but wasn't overwhelmed. If Goodreads done 3.5 stars then this would be one. Better than a 3 but not quite a four.

I might round up to four as I did enjoy the ending and it was a pretty neat concept. I'm still not convinced this would be a relationship that works but then again, maybe they had to get through all that before they could get to where they ended up.

The memory of Ben was heart-breaking. I had guessed it would be something like that where Ellie wasn't responsible but the guilt obviously still lingers.

I am also worried that Drake's favourite song is 'I will always love you' - a song about leaving someone because you know you are not the right person for them.

I think throughout this book I have struggled to understand what keeps them together. They clearly care for one another but seem so different in their ideals, personalities that I am not sure I foresee a happy ending. I think Ellie said at one point, the only thing they have in common is their sense of humour. Is that enough?

Ellie's family is very messed up and I'm keen to find out what has gone on there.

I knew the 'no talking about the cinema' rule wasn't going to work. How can you watch the story of your fiancé's life on screen and not want to know every detail. It's why I could never do it.

Also, Ellie's comment during the cake tasting that the wedding was really for Drake broke my heart

I am not sure I would want to sit through that type of thing with my wife. It's weird to remember she had a life before she met me!

Also, the rule about what happens in the cinema stays in the cinema is doomed to fail - how can that possibly happen?

Agree about the mother/brother, there is definitely some unspoken resentment there so I'm keen to find out what happened.

Just started this one and I am through to chapter 5.

Good start to the novel and I enjoy the writing style.

I am not sure about Drake and Ellie's relationship though. I enjoyed the chemistry when they first met, but 2 and a half years later, it really seems they aren't too well suited.

Surprised it has made it to engagement/wedding planning stage but we will see where it goes

Hi Trisha. I have The Kidnapping of Alice Ingold and The Second Chance Cinema. They have both been released in the UK so I dont have them on Netgalley but happy to buddy read. I'm not fussed on which one or when so happy to tie in with what would suit you
