"Sure, you can trust me." He nodded. "The most logical way would be to find the stream and head alongside of it. We might get into some trouble with the elves..." His thought trailed of for a moment. "But it's all better than the lagoon." He finished enthusiastically with a wide grin.

*Within the Dark Forest (generally North, but also North-West/North-East until we figure out the entire space the Forest occupies):
- several elven villages
- the Sacred Tree of Gaia of the dryads
- the mermaid lagoon
- several huntsman cabins
*Central lands ('it's bigger on the inside' too, just like the Labyrinth):
- a human kingdom in ruins (castle and several villages)
- shrines of the Lost Gods
*Landmarks
- a 'that pile of rocks in the middle' mountain
- a 'mid-sized stream' river running from the mountain, along one side of the meadows, through the forest (past the elven villages - at least one of them) into the sea/ocean
If any of these locations need to be opened, let me know.

"If we take the hint and continue North, we might end up in the spot, where the forest meets the sea, there's this small lagoon with mermaids. Nice and cute little fish... erm, ladies in general, all fairy-tale style, but they're particularly not so fond of female and way too fond of male travelers, for my personal liking. I hope you never see them grin, they have several rows of these pretty sharp teeth they use to..." The man flinched uncomfortably remembering his last meeting with the fish-creatures who tended to seduce every man foolishly wandering into their domain. To feast on them later.
"Then there is a..." Dae tried to pick a correct word. "...Tribe of this folk - you'd probably call them elves - in the Dark Forest. Not your noble material of legends, but quite an interesting and proud race nonetheless. They have several villages in the woods. Mainly hunters. You can strike good deals with them, if you're familiar with their ways. There was once a human kingdom further into the inner lands of the island... Well, not much of a kingdom, just a castle and several villages around it. All gone now, by the way. They've traded with these elves, floating goods up and down a river... Well, a mid-sized stream running..." He tried to figure out the direction and then pointed with his hand. "Somewhere over there from that pile of rocks one could call a mountain in the middle of the island, alongside the meadows and through the forest right into the sea."
"Then there are what you'd call dryads here. They live in this huge tree they call the Sacred Tree of Gaia. It's shielded by some kind of forces, so you'll never find it if you need to, but will end up right in front of it in the worst moment possible. Go figure..." He shrugged. "There are several hunter's cabins somewhere in the woods too. And plenty more of other creatures, I probably won't find correct analogies to describe them."
Dae sighed. That was a lot of text for him all at once.

"And don't tell me I'm still a stranger to you, deary..." He displayed an utterly pained look in all his features. "Hearing that really hurts." Dae added in a whisper.

"And you should've told me you're hungry. Is there anything I could offer you?"

With a snap of the man's fingers the trees around them changed back to their original form, but at a better glance one could still notice, that there were apples now growing among the rich green needles of fir trees.

Basically, there was no use being mean to the girl as she did not control the magical layers of the island. But Dae's good mood was ruined for the day, so he stared gloomily ahead of him.

"Aha!" He muttered, rubbed his scratched right cheek and winced.

So Dae listened to the 'noise' around him to figure out the direction and set out in an agile pace towards the girl, quite grumpy in mood.
