That's great! The only writing I've done at all is in reviews lol. I really need to start on my next project soon.

How's everyone's writing coming along. The holidays are here, its going to be hard to maintain your word counts as family and friends begin to gather together. Look for inspiration as you spend time with people, take notes of their character, and mannerisms. This might be a good time to develop or refine a few of yours.

I received my first beta read return today. 13 grammatical errors they found in the book. Hopefully I'll get a couple more next week. Overall that's a pretty clean read. I'm happy with it.

I've looked over my first book and it feels so juvenilely written that I almost, almost wish to re-write it. However, the better part of me understands that we had to start somewhere. If I were to go back and edit it once more, in 5 years as I continue to increase my writing skills; vernacular, vocabulary, grammar, and overall format, would it then feel the same in another 5 years?

The great thing about this is that you can actually tell how much you have progressed as a writer. At the time the work was created, that was the best effort you could have put forth. To see it now and be unhappy with it only means you've continued to improve. For those of us who remain GODS in the future, I'm sure we will witness a lot of growing within each other. It makes me excited to see how many GODS are still writers in 10 years.

Absolutely. I've already completed the course. Going back and editing does nothing for your progress.

Do not update them on coursera. Wait until you're able to exchange 10 chapters with someone else writing their story here. This way you also move through the course and don't get stuck on week 3 updating your chapters.

What was great is that I was leaning towards writing a completely different story but that kind of criticism irked me.

Challenge accepted. lol. I've got 5 beta copies out right now, as soon as they are finished and the final corrections are made I'll send out free copies to anyone who would like one.
